LITEWAVE(The Ultimate NEW WAVE ARCHIVE)

[DSR]

Last November 25,2006 SATURDAY p.m. LITEWAVE(The Ultimate NEW WAVE ARCHIVE), the only NEW WAVE RADIO SHOW in MANILA, had their FINAL BROADCAST.

LITEWAVE was born on AUGUST 7,1999 on MANILA FM radio station 103.5 KLITE hosted by my friend DJ RON SOUTH. Seven years of NEW WAVE MUSIC and sadly due to the upcoming change of Radio Format of 103.5 KLITE, LITEWAVE has to sign off too. Some FILIPINO NEW WAVE ACTS also guested and had performed LIVE AND ACOUSTIC on the show like ORANGE AND LEMONS, CAFFEINE, THE LATE ISABEL. PHILIPPINE SEXY ACTRESS ROSANNA ROSES also at one time guested on the show and DJ RON SOUTH played her TOP10 NEW WAVE SONG OF ALL TIME. I've also been a part of this great NEW WAVE show on 2002-2003 when I visited the booth to share some of my collections to the program. There were also some anniversary concert parties organized with performances of FILIPINO WAVE ACTS THE DAWN, TRUE FAITH, ORANGE AND LEMONS. There was one time when LITEWAVE went off for about 4 months in 2001 and returned. DJ HILARY BLAIRE also had a brief stint hosting the show. LITEWAVE had also a tough competition around 2001-2004 with rival NU107 NEW WAVE RADIO show CLUB RETRO hosted by MONDO CASTRO because both NEW WAVE RADIO SHOW shared the same TIMESLOT. It was like the old WXB102 versus DZBM POWER105 thing.LITEWAVE was one of the sponsor of CHINA CRISIS LIVE IN MANILA while CLUB RETRO was one of the sponsor of LOTUS EATERS LIVE IN MANILA both happened in 2002. CLUB RETRO also signed off on 2004. Per Sorensen also guested last MAY 2006 promoting the latest FRA LIPPO LIPPI concert in MANILA.I will definitely miss the show. So to DJ RON SOUTH, thanks for the great memories!! Also to the LITEWAVE BOYS thanks also and goodluck!![;)]

Do you have DSL, DSR? We just played happydeadmen's cover of the Lotus Eaters' "The First Picture of You." I'm adding that to regular rotation.

i happen to catch LITEWAVE last show late night of Nov 25. Its hard to hear a good show going off the air. I even recorded some of their playlist before.

Anyway, my hats off to DJ RON SOUTH and LITEWAVE.

Hope theres another radio station that will feature NEW WAVE music again here in Manila. [:(]
