Number 9 does NOT fit on this list like a glove . . . (the harmonica intro, maybe, but that's besides the point . . . )

02. William It Was Really Nothing
11. Sheila Take A Bow
19. Nowhere Fast

I'm saving "Nowhere Fast" because that's where this list is going.

Shiela, take a bow, cuz I just saved you from a fate worse than, oh, I don't know, plucking Morrissey's chest hair.

And the worst Smiths song is:

02. William It Was Really Nothing

and I guess it was.

WILLIAM IT WAS REALLY NOTHING voted the Worst SMITHS song. [:D]

The rain falls down on a humdrum town
this town has dragged you down
Oh the rain falls down on a humdrum town
this town has dragged you down
And everybody's got to live their life
And God knows ive got to live mine

William it was really nothing
William it was really nothing

How can you stay with a fat girl who'll say
Would you like to marry me
And if you like you can buy the ring
she doesnt care about anything
Would you like to marry me
And if you like you can buy the ring
I dont dream about anyone

William it was really nothing
William it was really nothing

This song was supposedly written about Billy Mackenzie, which was why The Associates replied with a song called "Stephen, You're Really Something". God knows what was going on between them..

I'm closing my eyes right now.[:p]

Ok, at least you didn't do something outrageous as selecting "This charming man" or "There's a light that never goes out".
The Smiths is the best thing that Manchester had... since Joy Division/No. ... [;)]

I like "William, It Was Really Nothing," more so than many of their other ventures...
