Some bands that released albums this year that fall in the hard rock category for me but I really recommend:

Jet- Their new CD is more in the style of the Beatles than The Rolling Stones or AC/DC as was their first album Get Born (I got to meet them at Del Mar racetrack last year too, cool guys!)

Wolfmother- Obvious Led Zep and 70's rock influences but very well-done

Diamond Nights - Popsicle Cd released late last year is an outstanding record. "The Girl's Attractive" will easily be in my top 10 songs of the year and is more alternative power pop sounding but the rest of the album has a much harder rock sound.

AC/Dc _ What are they Doing? Saw them on their last tour in 2000
Blue Oyster Cult
Detroit Cobras
Mighty Blue Kings
Reverend Horton Heat
Southern Culture on the skids
Kenny wayne Sheppard
Cheap trick
UFO(the live album I still listen to)
the Kinks-Give the people what they want and Low Budget, era.
Los Sraightjackets

These are bands that never have or never will find their way onto the alternative rock format. I'd love to name other bands such as the Blasters or UB40 ,that I don't consider new wave, but have definetly found their way onto that format.
