The evolution of my musical tastes has always been based in the 80's use of electronics and I feel there is a direct link from new wave electronic stuff to the contemporary artists I listen to today. I am sure this list will omit a number of groups but here goes anyway.

Hybrid
Fluke
Plump DJs
Stanton Warriors
Underworld
Freeform Five
Soulwax
Infusion
BT
Trafik
Koma & Bones
The Crystal Method
LCD Soundsystem
John B
Omni Trio
Front 242 (although they started in the 80s
Nine Inch Nails
Orbital
Long Range
Aquasky
Layo & Bushwacka
Goldfrapp
Hot Chip
High Contrast
2 Bit Pie
Syntax
Future Sound of London
The Chemical Brothers
Apollo 440
Moby
Way Out West
the list continues.

It would be great to hear if anyone else, and I am sure there is, who shares my appreciation of these groups along with new wave stuff. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of these to anyone with a love of electronic sounds and rhythms.

I'll list first, then peruse others' lists:

ABBA, Adult., Air, Alden Tyrell, Ambulance Ltd., Ascii Disko, Beggar & Co. (though I became a fan of them because of a NW band, Spandau Ballet), Bloc Party, Bodyrockers, Camera Obscura, Change, Chic, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Clear Static, Coldplay, Cut Copy, Death From Above 1979, Division Of Laura Lee, Editors, Fischerspooner, Frank Sinatra, Franz Ferdinand, Goldfrapp, Hard-Fi, Interpol, Japanese Telecom, Kings Of Convenience, Ladytron, Metallica, Metric, My Bloody Valentine, Phoenix, Rosemary Clooney, Soviet, The Bravery, The Killers, The Minor Thirds, The Rapture, Travis, Turin Brakes, and William Besson.

I did not list Bowie/Roxy/Ferry because I feel their direct influence on the NW musical genre is so strong they are, in fact, inseperable from that genre and as such are disqualified from the list. Nor did I list a lot of post-punkers because, hey, NW musical genre here. But I did list a lot of artists in the "new wave of NW" because I don't really feel they fall under the category of "NW artist(s)" and, as such, are perfectly acceptable to list. Oh yeah, and spot the odd one out in the above list.
