Even though they're a local band I was never keen on them, preferring other local artists such as Swans Way, Swell Maps, The Equators, Contact, Quads etc. Likewise Fashion whom I never saw what all the fuss was about even though they had a top ten album at the time.

<br>Remember guys, you don't actually have to look New Wave to be a real New Waver. Some posers look very New Wave but when you ask them about the music, they know absolutely nothing. A lot of us, the New Wave Outpost people, probably do not look anything like a New Waver now but we know we are true New Wavers.

I liked your reminder, Sean... Well said. Thanks for that.

I've been there quite a few times, got family there.Well i think wiht Duran Duran it was 'planet earth' 'girls on film'my older brother got them and I was hooked, I was only about 9-years-old! I got into music at a very early age as my older brother was itno all the punk, new-wave, heavy metal in the 70s!I was already into Hazel O'Connor,Toyah, The Police and Adam and the Ants by then!

Yep, I'm a Brummie born and bred! [:D]

Brum was known for its heavy metal music and punk never really got a look in here. [:(] At the time, I wasn't into popular music, though I did watch Razzmatazz (mainly for its led animations) and occasionally Mike Reid's Pop Quiz.

I got into this stuff in the mid '90s through an article on Teletext (one there for the American readers! [:D]) and luckily the Recorder Collector also did one the same month and it snowballed from there.
