That series started of well i have the first 12" 80's collection which was good cause it had quite a few rare tunes on it taken from vinyl. Now i just think they are treading water using stuff that's widely available on other releases and i noticed there are a few songs on this collection claiming to be extended versions but in fact they are just album versions.

You're right! a BIG "Yuck" to this comp. I was looking forward to a goth/industrial/new wave "12"80s", I could see a "new romantic" or 12" 80's Goth or 12" 80s Metal, but "Love"?

Yeah, it's not the best, but I'll buy it if the price is right [:)]. I haven't been buying too many CDs for awhile now, so even half-decent releases are better than nothing.

Each volume of this series relies more and more on poor vinyl rips... it's just not good enough! They need to also be a bit more adventurous... a 12"/80s/New Wave would be great!

They keep adding alot of 80's r'n'b tracks to these things, I know they were probably hits in the UK but they don't translate well to US audience. That 3rd cd I have no desire for.

Glad to see Lloyd Cole's Forest Fire on there but hardly worth it.

I've passed on the last one, now passing on this one sadly.

Very disappointed with this. A few poorly ripped vinyl transfers here (yawn). Style Council, Dee C Lee...

Does anyone know how to contact the folks who make these and ask them to remove their head from the arse? The last 2 sets stink, and will not sell, IMHO. I have no idea what they were thinking with the last 2 releases? Also, we could all suggest a 12"/80s/New Wave set to them?

The sleeve notes ask for feedback - good or bad! I've already emailed in about previous volumes and intent to ask that they either stop using poor vinyl rips altogether or get a decent tool to clean them up first! Also, I would love a 12"/80S/New Wave or /Alternative. Everyone, email!

I sent one to him/her just now, I asked for a few sets: New Wave and Goth to (hopefully) be on the "future release" list, lets see what happens. I also mentioned to him about the poor quality Vinyl rips they're using, and I will post any feedback/reply I receive. I asked also why they're so hard to get in the States? as I've been waiting for over a yr now for the 12"/80s POP version. My local Record Store here in Vegas(Zia), keeps ordering it, and it never comes in[:(!], or says "unavialable". I ordered it a week after it was released in the UK too, which stinks.

I also gave them ideas for upcoming songs I'd like to see used on future releases, we'll see what happens.

P.S. Thanks for the info, and email addy.[:D]

Ok, I received a reply to my email from a person named "Dorian", seems like a nice enough fellow. Anyways, here's what I wrote to them(I couldnt remember everything, but if you do, send him an email) regarding their recent release(s), and sets in general:

Hi there Jeff,

Many thanks for the mail and feedback.

Unfortunately for us, some of the 12" versions have been mislaid over the years by record companies or the people that are finding/sending the versions make mistakes and send the incorrect versions and we have to use vinyl as a last resort - some people have mailed to say that they enjoy the crackles mind you! But you're right and we need to improve the mastering from vinyl if that is the way we need to proceed.

As far as a New Wave/Alternative set, the next one planned will include some of this genre of 80s music culture and will be more along the lines of the first two - can't say more than that at present!
As far as getting these in the US is concerned, the best I can say is to bug Universal US into giving the next one a proper release instead of importing! Otherwise Amazon UK would be the best bet.

Thanks for the mail again,
Best,
Dorian
