Visage - The Anvil

I hope Steve Strange isn't reading this thread. It looks like "Glove" is on the "Fade" comp--for some reason when I pulled it out the other day it didn't seem to be on there.

Thanks. The version of that compilation that I have doesn't have Love Glove, but it is on other versions. BASTARDS!

"Love Glove" is on the "Damned Don't Cry" CD and "Master series".

schwenko : This actually the 3rd release.

1st release was from polydor made in germany in 1982 cat#800 022-2 (extremely rare).
I'm not selling mine :)

I was shocked the 1997 version would go for $400-$800 on Amazon. If this was the case the 1st release would go for $2000???

I don't believe that commercial cds were available in 1982.

Your absolutely correct. I'm just writing what I see on the CD. 1982 was the album was released during that time. No indication when it was printed. I bought the CD in the late 80's. I believe it was released the same period when the self-titled CD came out from polydor also made in west germany cat#800 029-2.

The album (vinyl) was released in 1982. Not the cd. The ebay seller is obviously wrong. It may say 1982 on the cd, but that refers to the vinyl release date.

Yes I stand corrected with respect to the first commercial cd. In fact I even posted a thread here about the 25th anniversary of the cd. However, The Anvil cd was not released in 1982. The first cd releases were from hugely successful artists, e.g. ABBA. Certainly not Visage.

Just found tracklisting for 2008 release. Seems to be a strange (no pun intended) choice of bonus tracks. Where is 'Pleasure Boys' 7 & 12", 'The Anvil' Dance mix, 'Night Train' 12" and B sides. Guess it's back up into the loft to find the vynil.

Track listing on Sister Ray site.

From what I've read, it's not remastered, and of 6 bonuses 3 are not fron "The Anvil" era (We Move, frequency and Mind of a Toy remixes). What kind of idiots are doing such things is beyond me. Can't they check any discography on the Net (there are plenty)?[}:)]

I'm gratingly disappointed with lots of recent releases by Cherry Red. Thye're becoming increasingly lazy...
