Chrisma/Krisma reissues

Chrisma/Krisma reissues

Postby Rubellan » Wed Mar 12, 2008 5:56 am

For anyone who may be a fan, and may not already be aware, the first 3 albums by Chrisma (aka Krisma) have been reissued on CD in Italy.

Chinese Restaurant (1977)
Hibernation (1979)
Cathode Mamma (1980)

They come in a forgettable single fold digipack with no booklets. The only reason I didn't mention it earlier is because all 3 CD's are severely brick walled with TOO much volume, leaving some very clear distortions throughout all 3 CD's. I was horrified, and very disappointed. I was lucky enough to own the original 1st CD of Chinese Restaurant, so I held onto that one for sure. If you have no other way of getting these albums, I would suggest these reissues for that reason only.

It's hard to get worked up about sound quality on CDs by a trashy Italian pop group.

Actually, it's some pretty cool New Wave. So Scott, did you purchase all three? If so, where from? CD Universe has a couple in stock and Amazon has one. Let me know if you know of all place with all three at a good price. Thanks!

I've heard their material. Cool is not a word I would use.

Far from being trashy Italian pop. They were quite odd and experimental on the earlier albums. In fact "Hibernation" doesn't have a dud song on it!.

I purchased mine through GEMM a couple of months ago, from a place called Vertigo. They were the first place to list them, and I paid about $21.50 for each. They also were not the fastest in shipping, and I was VERY anxious to get my hands on these. I did end up selling "Chinese Restaurant" on eBay because I preferred my originally issued CD.

I recently saw the video from their most recent single (from a few years ago), titled "Kara". I CANNOT believe how good this song is, and I cannot find it anywhere! The song/video seems to pertain to a transvestite, and showed some bits of Silence Of The Lambs.

I wish "Fido" would get re-released on CD. Always liked "Nothing To Do With The Dog."

Wouldn't mind seeing "Clandestine Anticipation" also re-released. It was in 2005, but is impossible to find, although is available for digital download on some European sites.

I had Clandestine Anticipation on CD, the original Italian pressing. It was by far the WORST quality CD I have ever heard! It was mastered from vinyl with the most extreme auto-cleaning/pop removal applied, and the entire disc was pure distortion. It was a shame because I was so happy when I first received it, only to put it on and be horrified. I did get Iceberg on CD before it went out of print though.
