"Cries and Whispers" was incorrectly labelled as "Mesh" on all versions, and only on the cassette versions did the original "Mesh" actually appear, confusingly enough mistitled as "Cries and Whispers"

Well apart from them saying that Mesh was on there when it is in fact Cries And Whispers. I think he means tracks being left off due to not enough space. By my calculations though everything still wouldn't fit on two 80 minutes cds and just looking at my cds of substance they have that bronzing affect and are starting to peel so i hope they do make a good job of this so i don't have to buy the original again.

By the 80 minute CD, I mean they can get the last forty or so seconds of The Perfect Kiss 12-inch on there.

And the full length version of the "Sub-culture" remix! One of my favorite NO tracks ever.

I never cared for the remix of Sub-Culture. I like the bass line in the album version.

Having said that, I would welcome it on CD, however, along with the unedited version of Shell-Shock 12".

I cannot understand why they don't release a box with all the singles. If there was ever a band which deserve that treatment is New Order. It would be the only way to get all the mixes and b-sides. And I think there would be enough buyers to make it profitable.

I am starting to get a little bit tired of all this packaging and repackaging, adding notes but not the lyrics (if they were included in the original release), putting new pictures and deleting old art work...

"Recycle" was a box set that you have described, that was scrubbed before completion. About 5 years ago.

Hmm, I thought I had read an interview with Peter Hook on Pitchfork where me mentions that they are def remastering all of their albums. I think he mentioned that they would be avaialable in October. I wanted to link the interview here for all to read (for those who haven't) but it seems to have disappeared. Does anyone know where that article went[?]

He mentioned that there would be two batches of remasters, first the Factory years, and then the Warner Brothers years. So I assume Movement is one of the discs too then.

Count me in on the Technique remaster.

From the Cerysmatic Factory site, confirmation from Peter Hook abut the re-issues:

They will follow the same concept as the recent Warner Joy Division remasters: 2 discs, one being the album, the other being a live show from that era. To hell with that in my opinion no b sides or remixes can't imagine i will be buying any of these.

Yeah, pretty stupid IMHO, if they follow that concept as well. With all the dance/extended mixes of songs they did in the 80s/90s and the fact that many of them are OOP, it would only make sense for them to include mixes, and bonus tracks that didnt make it onto the originals, on these discs. Lets keep our fingers crossed that they come to their senses and do just that. Will they? probably not, but we can only hope.

More interesting to me was one article down about Hooky's excuse that his DJ "committments" have prevented progress on Freebass. What a cunt he's become.

well ... he always was like that , which is the main reason , why some people like & others jus' loathe him ! [;)]

for me , he always was the driving ( bass in your face [:D] ) force behind new order & if he's decided to spend most of his time these days to fly around the world to deejay here & there it's okay with me ! [:)]

anyway ... freebass are no new monaco , so i don't mind him deejaying even a bit more now ! [;)]

edited p. s. : http://blogs.sfweekly.com/shookdown/200 ... ook_qa.php

go figure ! [:D]

I have to laugh because my final edit before posting was to delete "...if he wasn't always." No doubt that his bass has always been the driver. He could stand to just shut the fuck up sometimes though.

not that i'm really surprised, but... come the fuck on - more live crap?! new order, as others have pointed out, have so many singles and great non-album cuts it's unbelievable they wouldn't make the second disc a collection of the singles, b-sides, mixes, etc. from the albums. unfuckingbelievable. at least with joy division there's not much else they could have stuck on. but new order? what a disappointment. any of you also bummed, but needing/ wanting decent cd-r's of the '81-'85 new order non-album stuff, let me know and i'll hook you up. i have a pretty thorough collection of that period that a trader hooked me up with years ago. he took them from his vinyl and did a pretty nice job audio-wise. i love new order but i saw them once in '89 for technique and they sucked. no live crap for me thanks. the only time they sounded good was the computer stuff. when they tried to actually play instruments it was like seeing a bad covers band at your local dive.
