Discussions about the new generations of bands influenced by '80s New Wave and Postpunk

If yer on the prowl for new tuneage...

The music scene today is very exciting if you really pay attention. For every lame band on the Top 40, there's a few really cool bands who have little chance of making it on the charts in the U.S.

I'd like to pass on some recommendations to you if you are looking for some groovy new music and just can't seem to find it. Most, if not all, of these bands are new wave influenced. Alas, I can't promise you'll like these, but I'm hoping you will. I'll only post one video per band and you can investigate further if you'd like. These are new or new-ish bands from the last 12 months or so....

I hope you enjoy:

I've found that occasionally KROQ out in here in Lost Angeles plays some good stuff (She Wants Revenge, e.g.) and Indie 103's even better (introduced me to Midnight Movies, A Place to Bury Strangers and Ladytron -- some very edgy, wavish bands).

There is a way to find good new stuff. It just isn't as easy as turning on the radio anymore.

Totally. I admit I had fallen into that line of thinking a while back, "that there is no good music out there anymore". Well, if you listen to the radio, then duh! That's true for sure. Radio sucks now. BUT--once you start checking into alternate sources, i.e., the internet, then you can find it. My husband is always amazed when I find something new and cool; he'll ask "how did you find this stuff ?" I agree that there IS good music being made out there, you just have to go and seek it out.

Battles - Atlas (Gary Glitter + NIN + Looney Tunes ... one of the strangest things I've heard in years but I dig it!)
