They're playing the contemporary classics. I.e., we're getting old.

I know, this is my first post but I have some thoughts about this that I talk about sometimes with a friend of mine from the old new wave days.
Why is it that we were looked at with disdain from the 'normals' for looking like and listening to the euro beat (or the new wave or the
new romantic or punk) stuff back then.
Now the 'normals' have this notion that NO they weren't listening to Huey Lewis and Phil Collins and radio music then! Our music now belongs to them, too?
Yeah, right, dream on.
We're the only ones with real, tangible memories of this stuff from our tape and record collections and club nights (since new wave stations tried and died so often in Detroit...WLBS lives in our hearts, though!).

hey, this happened many more years ago...it really started with the Listerine commercial. The used tarzan boy by baltimora for the cool mint listerine.I was jumping for joy when i heard that. I wondered if Baltimora got to see the day or money from that before he passed away..

Would it be Royksopp's "Remind Me"? Nice synths and bass groove to that song!

I just heard Saved By Zero in a Toyota commercial promoting their 0% APR. It wasn't the Fixx, but a modernized trancey version.

They're running the Saved By Zero ad again? Probably an update, but Toyota used that song a while back (at least 5 years ago) for a 0% promotion they were running.

Tileboy mentioned the Morrissey NFL Network ad. I've been hearing that one a lot, since I watch the games every weekend. Sounds almost country, I wonder who remade that one.

Saw this on Wikipedia regarding Devo re-recording Whip It for those Swiffer ads:

Devo recorded a new version of "Whip It" to be used in Swiffer television commercials, a decision they have said they regret. During an interview with the Dallas Observer, Gerald Casale said, "It's just aesthetically offensive. It's got everything a commercial that turns people off has."

Just heard the Toyata Saved By Zero 0% financing commercial last night. Right now though, I'm scarfing a burrito at Chipotle Grill in Somerville MA listening to Da Da Da...hilarious. Oddly, it's got me pumped up for the Fleet Foxes gig next door.

I've been hearing "Once In a Lifetime" by Talking Heads in the commercials for "W.", the new Oliver Stone film.
