I'm just glad i never preordered these at least i've saved myself 50 quid. With all these errors on the discs i'm sure wether it be London or Rhino will lose out as well. You just wonder if anybody actually checked these releases before they were sent out cause to think people would accept substandard crap like that they would have to be either deaf or stupid.

i'm hoping rhino will have corrected the problems before they issue the american pressings. the same thing happened in 2003 with the uk reissue pressings of echo & the bunnymen's 1987 eponymous album. there was a bad noticeable skip during the extended mix of 'bring on the dancing horses', but it corrected thankfully by the time the american pressings surfaced a couple of months later. hopefully later uk pressings of the echo were corrected and hopefully the same will be the case for new order.

If you read a lot of these post, you kind of get really discouraged from buying any of these reissues. If you read the New Order forums, you'd think it's end of the world. I'm not going to read anything else from that forum. [:)] I did order all of these and I just hope I get some enjoyment out of them. I love New Order but I'm not a New Order fanatic so not having some of these other mixes or missing the last 40 sec. or intro to a song probably won't phase me that much. I am a little bummed out to hear though the bad job they did with some of the songs on the bonus disc with regards to the obvious clicks and pops. Oh well, a little vinyl nostalgia. I just hope they did a nice job on the packaging. I've also heard the remastering job is pretty decent on the album discs so I don't think it'll be too bad. At least New Order is not collaborating with Justin Timberlake, The Jonas Brothers, or Usher. Now that would really be the end the world!

It's what happens when you use iTunes to rip CDs ;-).

Thanks to all the dudes on the various forums for pointing out the glitches. The half-ass tracklisting (Substance versions of tracks) was a downer already. Add the shitty quality control, and that's enough to make me change my mind and pass on these.

I was looking forward to getting some of the tracks on CD :-(.

Are these sound wise that shitty? I mean, I'd love to have some of the bonus material on the remasters, but if the sound quality is as bad as alot of you claim, then I may hold off.

Not 'shitty', but 'glitchy', from what I've read.

Ok, here's my goofy review of the "Technique" remaster.

CD1 (The album cd) - Remastering seems pretty good but I didn't really think the original was that bad but I don't have one of those audiophile ears so it's hard to say. They could of stuck the old cd in here and I probably couldn't even tell.

CD2 (The bonus cd) - The pops and clicks people are mentioning are all there. Pretend you took your vinyl collection out and put everything onto a pressed cd. It doesn't appear they cleaned too much of it up but there are some cool songs on here.

Packaging - The outward appearance of the digipak looks nice. The fold outs have really cool vibrant colors. The booklet is boring, really frickin boring. Why not throw some photos of the band in there? At least one of New Order during that era.

Summary - Not the greatest remastered collector's cd but it would be hard for a New Waver to see this in the store and not buy it. What I mean is that it's New Order and next remasters of this probably won't come for quite awhile and it's better to buy this than a lot of the sh.t that's out there. For people who are really sentitive, it might be a good idea to avoid it because you will definitely be annoyed with some things that are on here, or that are not on here. As OBS mentioned, glitchy, not shitty. For everyone else, your curiosity will get the best of you and you'll probably pick it up sooner or later.

Technique is the last remaster i would buy to be honest (not that i have any plans of buying any of them ) mainly because my original CD sounds very good and the only two tracks i don't have are Run 2 and MTO. What really suprises me though with everything else on the bonus CD being available on the CD format why the hell did they have to use vinyl rips.

Well, with those Thompson Twins (and the fact that Edsel took the time/money to fix the problem) + Blancmange reissues being what they are, and at the price they are being sold for, the New Order reissues don't sound too good in comparison.

I haven't received my 808 States yet, but asides from not having paricular mixes, I haven't heard any complaints. Again, the price of the 808s are lower than New Order's pricing.

Those 808 State remasters are great you won't regret buying those. I've heard a few complaints about them mainly the EX-EL logo being in green instead of yellow also Olympic is not listed as being on the first disc but it is there but apart from those minor problems they are near enough perfect unless you take for instance that moaning git -1 over on the NO forum who wants every single mix or promo they ever released on these. One of my Substance CD's is starting to fall to bits and won't play anymore and i'm seriously considering just buying Substance new again and avoiding these remasters.

Here's a nice thread regarding the glitches on the New Order remasters on the promo discs.

MONI: I actually checked out the 808 State forum right after this one, and saw your posts there :-). As far as the tracklists of those go, the only one I really wish were there is Pacific 909. Hopefully, a FLAC will turn up on a torrent site. I ordered 90, Ex:El, and Gorgeous.

The Discogs site has a rather marvellous handy-dandy guide to what's right 'n' wrong, track-titlewise, on the reissues, which is nice.

If you're talking about the individual album entries at Discogs, the post at NewOrderOnline is more imformative.
