Probably The Undertones and The Moondogs. 1979, I think? I don't know. I was just a tyke -- my memory's not the best.

My brother also took me to see The Sect a few times, although I think that was later. I was never into them, anyway.

I think this show was mine as well, Orpheum theatre Boston , not sure of the exact date. I went to see Squeeze, but was a Tubes fan too. Also in 79 , I saw the Talkingheads and B'52's together at the Berklee performance center, more of a true new wave show.

This show was a little late in the game for some of the New Wave sages we have here but it will still always hold a special place in my personal timeline of life experience.

I was at that same show. It wasn't my first New Wave show, but dang, it was a good one.

My first was Oingo Boingo in LA in '80. Visiting some family and the cousins took me along.

My first concert and first new wave concert were one and the same. It was Devo at the Paramount Theater here in Portland, OR 12/21/1982 on their Oh No It's Devo tour.

I'm another one who got their live NW christening courtesy of the Police (Winter of 81-82, Nassau Coliseum- Ghost In The Machine Tour)

Heh, I STILL have my Police pin button and diecast Police souvenir mock 'Badge' from that show! (one of the precious few mementos collected during those bygone days.)

I saw them at about the same time. I remember they played quite a bit from Oh No It's Devo. Curious if they played multiple sets at the concert you attended? The one I went to had 3 or 4 sets with costume changes in between. Probably lasted 1 1/2 to 2 hrs.(It was probably the least they could do given their 40 minute performance the year before.)

When I saw Devo they played two separate shows on the same night. I think they played at 7pm and 9pm (maybe 10 pm). There wasn't any opening act and the set wasn't too long. They did do some costume changes during the show. I saw them again in Portland in 1988 at the Starry Night (now the Roseland Theater).

My first-ever concert was DEVO at the Palladium in NYC for the Duty Now for The Future tour. It was fantastic!

First concert ever was U2 - Joshua Tree Tour - Thanksgiving Day 1987! Boy that took some convincing to get the rents to drop me and friends off at the show an hour away from home on Thanksgiving Day!
