HUMAN LEAGUE "FASCINATION" EP NOW AT ITUNES!!!

...and nobody knows it! caroline isn't promoting it for some reason. i stumbled across it tonight. the sound is incredible, to finally have it all together... the rushent "i love you too much" is here, and as a bonus: THE DUB VERSION. the "improv" fascination is here in all it's glory, not snipped like on the remix cd of a few years ago... egads, this has made me ecstatic. 25 YEARS LATER, HERE IT FINALLY IS. I'd be rejoicing if it was released on CD instead of into the intangible cyber universe.

ah, there's the rain for the parade! well, it wouldn't be this forum without it.

perhaps you could burn one? and print out a cd cover? it's easy. hint: it's grey, with "human league" in blue. your burned cd-r is quite tangible, and landfill-ready!

at any rate: anybody else happy about this?

the dub version of "i love you too much"- but if you never were lucky enough to get the 3" cd from...when? the 80's? then you might be overjoyed.

sheesh, i thought this was a bigger deal to people.

The dub version appeared on the CD single of Love Is All That Matters (5") in 1988.
It's the original pre-Hysteria vocal version of I Love You Too Much that is of interest as it was left off the Original Remixes & Rarities CD a few years back to make room for such rarities as the album version of Being Boiled. I for one am pleased it's out there again [:D]

This is great news. Thanks so much for the info. Would never have found this. This was the first album I ever bought.

This is very cool that this EP has finally resurfaced. In America, we (or at least I for sure) didn't know that most of the EP was previously released material (Hard Times, Mirror Man and You Remind Me Of Gold were all released in 1981 or 1982. Only Fascination and I Love You Too Much were new material). I played the HELL out of this record. The Improvisation mix ripped apart my idea of what pop music was.

My only gripe is that the new "digital" release of "I Love You Too Much" is fairly tinny and high-endish. My own vinyl rip has a fuller sound. But just that it's out there is fantastic.

i was the same way with this. i wore "dare" out- that and soft cell's "non stop erotic cabaret" were IT for me for two years... so to find (on a boy scout camping trip to santa fe) "fascination" was a real treat, and it was all new to me. i hadn't bought the "dare" singles, so hadn't heard any b-sides.

and like you, the "improvisation" mix of "fascination" changed how i thought of music, if not my life. i had never heard such an inventive use of studio, and to this day think it is one of the most clever remixes IN THE HISTORY OF MIXES. only trevor horn would match this with his remixes for frankie goes to hollywood, in my opinion. it was absolutely cutting edge back then, and i think it's aged beautifully.

i'm still thrilled about this ep being out. perhaps more human league is coming, as it's easy to release things via itunes. and to my old ears, the sound quality is just fine.

My sentiments exactly on the "Improvisation" mix; the only mix to make a bigger impression on me in that sense was Trevor Horn's USA Dub Mix of "The Look Of Love." Absolutely incredible, and I wish I could get it on CD (at least my vinyl is in good shape).

trevor horn's work on most remixes is pretty stellar. his propaganda stuff is great on "wishful thinking." for me, one of the best of his mixes is his extended "owner of a lonely heart"- you can hear the genesis of "frankie goes to hollywood" in those linn drums and choral samples.

I'm pretty sure the USA Dub Mix of The Look Of Love appears on this http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?releas ... 4990&ev=rb. I remember buying this and being puzzled why they put the album version of That Was Then But This Is Now on it. Maybe it was because they couldn't fit a mix of When Smokey Sings on it because the CD clocks in at 80 mins.
