The new album is BAD. And overrated. Avoid at ALL costs.

If you need to hear The Killers, do yourselves a favor and just pick up a copy of "Hot Fuss." It doesn't have a nice-to-look cover, but the first half is actually good. Which is one more half than "Day & Age."

One-album wonder band who don't deserve the good reviews they're still getting. And Flowers can't sing live. Or at all really.

First off, I happen to LIKE histrionic shit! Where would Rock and Roll be without it?

And by "edge" I mean that sometimes intangible thing that makes a band or a song captivating. THAT edge on THIS record is gone! Providing more evidence that Blir's Third Album Theory has merit.

What has me more concerned is a very disturbing string of events that I never thought I'd see in my lifetime; First, relegating darlings BSP to 2nd place behind anyone, then actually defending The Killers' recent wankerish attempt.

Next thing you know we'll get a black president.

Oh, so I was the only one enthralled by "are we human or are we dancer"?! I think the new one is a good album. I happen to like The Killers. I mean, they're named after New Order AND they improved a Joy Division song for the Control soundtrack.

Yeah, you can hate me all you want for that, but I can take it. I am human and I need to dance, just like everybody else does!

I don't hate the Killers. But that last album was crap.

Everyone gets to have their "crap" album. Some sooner than later. For the Stones, it was "Goat's Head Soup". Dylan had "Saved". Queen not only had "The Miracle" and "Hot Space" but also the horrible Flash Gordon soundtrack.

Doesn't mean we aren't still fans and won't pull even harder for them on the next try.

One piece of advice for Brandon Flowers. Either grow a fucking mustache or shave it but that anemic caterpillar on your lip would embarrass most 13 year olds.

Now Mundie, if you want to be both human AND dancer, you go right ahead. Frolic in the daffodils all you want. Just remember, those bee stings aren't love bites.

The Killers and I have a very odd relationship. I liked most of the first half of Hot Fuss, though the second half put me to sleep. Sam's Town pretty much blew me away -- one of my favorite albums of the decade. And now, Day & Age. "Human" is OK, I like "Losing Touch" and "This Is Your Life," and for some reason I am ridiculously in love with "Spaceman," but the rest of it bores the crap out of me. I also picked up Sawdust (their rarities comp) but have not been inspired to listen to it yet.

I listened to the album again tonight after a month or so of not hearing anything from it at all (outside of "Human" which I think is the biggest hit they've ever had. Seems to be everywhere). I think they were smarting from the bad reviews of "Sam's Town" and went a little overboard on the 80's sound this time. In fact "Day And Age" seems more 80's New Wave influenced than "Hot Fuss". Like those other records, they generally have 3 or 4 decent songs per album with a lot of filler. They'll probably have a terrific Greatest Hits CD someday. I like "Human". To me it sounds a bit like the 12" mix of "Forever Young".

I see The Killers getting criticized for being histrionic, pretentious, religious and having a lead singer who thinks the sun shines out of his ass. That's pretty much identical to what a lot of people said about U2 back in the 80's. I like U2 but of course everyone thinks the music they listened to as a teenager was the greatest thing in the world so I wonder if I hadn't have been a teenager when U2 came out if I would have written them off as histrionic garbage.

As a big Killers fan I have to say their new album Day & Age is rather mediocre. And when I first heard Human I had no idea at first that it was them. However I loved that song the first time I heard it and stil do. And there's a couple other good songs on that CD. I'm still trying to figure out what the hell he's saying though. Is he saying or are we dancers? or are we denser?

On Letterman last night to end the US tour. My Brit friends seem eager to receive them over there...really can't understand why. I have this incredible desire to reach through the tube and strangle that chicken-neck Flowers and snuff out that now all-too-irritating voice. Other than that...um...nice...suit?

That really sucked. I've noticed that Flowers sometimes uses the high pitched vibrato that he absconded from Russell Mael of Sparks.

Where Mael uses it to great effect in a tongue in cheek way, Flowers just pummels your ears with it for no apparent reason.
