My cd/dvd is on its way to me. You guys in the UK are lucky. [:)]

I'm with you Moni, I wish they release the deluxe remastered Lament.

It appears to be both of them in a few shots and not so much quick as a wanton display...mind you, I'm not complaining!

I forgot about those other shots. The clip is a bit like David Hamilton's film 'Bilitus'. Wasn't 'Vision in blue' directed by Midge Ure?

My copy just arrived yesterday! (And it was just shipped on Saturday from the UK). Haven't listened to it yet, but it looks very good (although the booklet is a bit skimpy, and I'd expect more dramatic artwork from an Ultravox release). I'll comment on the quality once I get a chance to review.

Now, EMI UK, bring on Lament, please...

don't worry , folx , as "lament" will also get the same good treatment as the other albums before ... & even the dreaded "pink thing" a.k.a. the "u-vox" album will be re-released as a remastered edition ! [;)]

Dunno, but sometimes Midge looks like an Italian porno director from the '70s! To wit, in the "Visions in Blue" video...I think it's the pencil mustache!

I finally got my copy in the mail yesterday. [:D] For those of you who already had "The Collection" DVD, this is worth it for those two live performances and the TOTP performance of "All Stood Still". Wish they would have stuck some more TV appearances on there. They had the room. The rest of the videos is pretty much "The Collection" except for the last two videos, which were from U-Vox. That's the one Midge Ure Ultravox album that I couldn't get into so I wasn't too impressed with the videos. Seems like they got boring at that stage. I thought after "Lament" they would have an awesome follow up but it just didn't happen. Anyways, I love the Vienna-Lament Ultravox and was happy to pick this cd/dvd up.

The Very Best Of includes single versions - which is good, except All Stood Still which is the album version not the single version.

I'm watching the Vienna clip, which is described as "uncut".
How does this differ from the "cut" version?

I think the cut version doesn't include the close ups of the "grotesques"; like the guy with a hook for a hand, the scar and the scene with the spider.

Watched all the DVD the other night and really enjoyed all the videos, even the last one. The quality isn't at all bad although there is quite a bit of grain on some of them. Suprised how surreal some of them are esp. The Thin Wall. Has anyone noticed how Chris Cross has more than a passing resemblence to Daniel Craig? Or is it just me?

Schwenko, I think it's like the Duran Duran video for "Come Undone". There's a censored and an uncensored version but I was never able to find out what the difference was. [:D]

"Best of" arrived the other day. The sound on the DVD is pretty good, except for the 'live' appearances, which is understandable. They could have EQed it so that it's closer to what the other videos sounded like; live videos were much too bassy/muffled.

I mostly watched the videos from Quartet and Lament, and I have to say that they were pretty good. Love's Great Adventure was kind of funny at the beginning :).

> It’s interesting that a few of the dvd releases these days from the UK are NTSC Region 0. First, it was the OMD, now this Ultravox. Anyone know why that’s happening? Are they abandoning the PAL format?

I guess they figured that more people in PAL-land can play NTSC than NTSC-land can play PAL. Also, you don't have to deal with the PAL +4%, which is okay for movies, but may not be okay for music.

> I really hope that when Lament is reissued, it has the 12" mixes of Dancing with Tears in My Eyes and One Small Day that are on my US 12" single back-to-back. They are my absolute favorite mixes of both of those songs, and I have yet to see them make an appearance on CD.

"Dancing ..." is on Classic Alternatives 3
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00000 ... eoutpos-20
and "One Small Day" is on "Extended Ultravox" (with a longer version of "Dancing ...")

> It should really be just one kind of high quality disc that plays in any dvd player in the world. No regions, no ntsc or pal, no restrictions.

It was called HD DVD ...

Hi,
The version of 'Dancing' on Classic Alternatives is the regular 10 minute 12" version. Track time is incorrect on that cd.
One Small Day from the promo 12" (the 'club version') is not available on cd. There are in fact 4 official extended versions of One Small Day :
- the 'special re-mix'
- the 'special re-mix extra'
- the 'final mix'
- the 'club version'

The versions of Dancing with Tears in My Eyes and One Small Day that are back-2-back on the US 12", which I mentioned above, are I think the best mixes of both of those songs, and I've never found either of them on CD. This is the original 12":
