Better late than never: Spandau Ballet CD+DVD

Better late than never: Spandau Ballet CD+DVD

OK, perhaps this is old news, but I've been hunting this one down for a while. It was announced last summer that EMI UK would be releasing a "Sight + Sound" version of Spandau Ballet's Gold greatest hits package with a DVD of all their videos. Street date came and went and it seemed to be off the schedule; the item listing on The Ideal Copy stated that the DVD is a concert from the Heart Like A Sky tour. There's no mention of it on the official Spandau Ballet website, and I couldn't find any news on their message boards, etc. It was only recently where I noticed the artwork on sites like Amazon, and I think I saw a listing from an eBay seller that stated it was "Not available in the High Street (London) shops." I saw an Amazon Marketplace seller offering it for sale recently, but when I ordered it, they didn't have it in stock (Amazon US wants $46!). I finally got around to ordering it from Amazon UK last week, and it arrived yesterday. It really does exist!

All of their videos are on the DVD (unless they made ones for "How Many Lies" or tracks from Heart Like A Sky) and the quality is very good. Audio on the DVD seems remastered and the clips are cleaned up rather nicely. DVD is PAL Region 0. Recommended!

I have it too Surly and it's awesome. Wish they made more videos during the Journey To Glory period. Would have love to see a video for Reformation and Mandolin.

amazon.co.uk is showing it being released in September. How'd you guys get it so early??? Now I just need an all-region DVD player that'll play PAL discs ...

I guess a few leaked out. [:D] I remember I was really confused when I bought it, not knowing whether or not I would get the dvd with it but it was included.

That's so weird! I just checked to confirm this. It was originally supposed to come out last September, and if you go to the official Spandau site, they offer it there (at least they did when I checked a few weeks ago, right after the tour announcement). They (Amazon UK) had it in stock a few weeks ago (it still showed the September '08 release date) and they shipped it to me. I remember going back to the site to forward it to a friend, and it showing as out of stock then. I wonder what happened?

I remember seeing a listing for eBay not too long ago from a UK seller that said "Not available in the High Street shops." Quite the mystery!

Update: there are some Marketplace sellers on both the US and UK sites offering it for sale.
