I agree with that. If the Furs played with Echo and The Bunnymen like they did a few years ago that would make sense (and the Furs would open like last time).
In a perfect world, The Happy Mondays would be on a bill with The Charlatans or a reformed Stone Roses (although I doubt the Roses would reunite as long as Ian Brown still sells records in the U.K. and the Charlatans would need to put older songs back into their set). Even if they toured with an older act like APB that would make some stylistic sense (both bands being 70's funk rave-up fans). Then again, I have to stop myself from thinking like it's 1992. The promoters were putting together a "nostalgia package". Maybe in that context it works and the average concertgoer just hears two bands from the 80's and has a great time. Who knows? Seems 50/50 based on reviews I've read. Considering it's 2009, I guess we should be grateful that these bands even tour at all.
