Also, this will be remastered.. those cds are awful from the 80's, that would be the point for me. :)

Songs To Remember was reissued on Virgin too, so they might include some tracks from that

hmmm, the original 80s CDs are alright. New remasters are horrible, being way too loud due to the "loudness war". The original 80s CD of C&S has the rare remixes. However there may be a reason why original Virgin CDs sound bad, here is some info from a friend:

"As I was saying earlier the original CD releases of Penthouse And Pavement and The Luxury Gap (not sure about How Men Are, haven't found it yet, but other early Virgin CDs are) are pre-emphasized, so they sound like crap (high frequencies are emphasised so it sounds tinny) if you rip them onto your PC without applying de-emphasis (SoX can do this), or play them on some modern CD players that doesn't de-emphasize (they're supposed to! Technically they aren't CD compliant if they don't but no one seems to care any more)."

As for the best of here is my dream tracklist:

1.Sweetest Girl
2.Faithless
3.Asylums in Jerusalem
4.Jacques Derrida
5.Lions After Slumber
6.Wood Beez
7.Absolute
8.The Word Girl
9.Perfect Way
10.Hypnotize
11.Oh Patti
12.Lovesick
13.World Come Back To Life (rare b side)
14.Boom, There She Was
15.She's a Woman
16.Take Me In Your Arms
17.I Don't Know Why I Love You (feat BEF)
18.Tinsletown To The Boogiedown
19.Brushed With Oil, Dusted With Powder
20.Boom Boom Bap

Great tracklist...no complaints there, though I would love for a few of the early Rough Trade singles to make the cut to give the complete picture such as Skank Bloc Bologna & PAs. And Hypnotize would need to be after Absolute, to make it chronological. And there is also the single Another Sound Mission (Mystic Handyman Pt 2) and Snow In Sun.

And of course for it to be Sight & Sound with bonus DVD of video's.

My tracklist:

1.Skank Bloc Bologna
2.PAs
3.The "Sweetest Girl"
4.Faithless
5.Asylums in Jerusalem
6.Jacques Derrida
7.Lions After Slumber
8.Wood Beez (Pray Like Aretha Franklin)
9.Absolute
10.Hypnotize
11.The Word Girl (Flesh & Blood)
12.Perfect Way
13.Oh Patti (Don't Feel Sorry For Loverboy)
14.First Boy In This Town (Lovesick)
15.World Come Back To Life (rare b side)
16.Boom! There She Was
17.She's a Woman
18.Take Me In Your Arms
19.I Don't Know Why I Love You (feat BEF)
20.Another Sound Mission (Mystic Handyman Pt2)(w/Likwit Crew)
21.Tinsletown To The Boogiedown
22.Brushed With Oil, Dusted With Powder
23.Boom Boom Bap
24.Snow In Sun

Tracks 1, 2, 3 & 7 were issued on Early.

Well no one is ever gonna win the remastering good/bad war, but its a matter of opinion. Most 80's cd sound terrible to ME and others, but I am sure some people just don't care and want to listen to their cd from 1983 forever, I am not one of those. You are right about the early cds, they did emphasize the highs.

SCRITTI POLITTI have recorded two new songs - 'A Place We Both Belong' and 'Day Late and a Dollar Short' - to appear on a forthcoming compilation, 'Absolute (Best of Scritti Politti)', which is expected to be released at the end of March.

http://bibbly-o-tek.com/

A source close to the project has informed me that there will most likely be 2 additional new tracks on the new album “Absolute (Best of Scritti Politti).â€￾ â€￾A Place We Both Belongâ€￾ and “Day Late and a Dollar Shortâ€￾ are names that were given to the tracks by Green and David Gamson as they worked on them together last year. Actual track names are subject to change upon final release.

Gamson is very busy these days. He is credited as producing and writing “Stephenâ€￾ and “Backstabberâ€￾ on Ke$ha’s album “Animal.â€￾ This album was #1 on billboard recently. “Tik Tokâ€￾ on that ablum (which Gamson did not do) just might break Debby Boone’s 1977 hit “You light up my Lifeâ€￾ record of 10 consecutive weeks at number 1 by a female artist. â€￾Tik Tokâ€￾ is # 1 now in its 9th week! (Not really Scritti related, but big music news)

Gamson also and recently wrote “Sure Fire Winnersâ€￾ for Adam Lambert’s recent album “For Your Entertainment.â€￾

I'd prefer a remaster of Cupid, but this is a start

The remasters of Cupid & Provision etc would depend on how well the best of sells.

With Green being involved in the best of adding two new songs.. he could be also involved with the remasters.. hopefully! Like I said, Virgin had John Moss involved with remastering of the albums which had the box set come out first. Would be stupid to bake the master tapes for only one or two songs.
