So finally back home to process a couple of vids. It really struck me during the gig that Slow Children have quite a divergent, dual nature. On the one hand, their signature synth hooks from back in the day made them KROQ and new wave darlings. On the other, peel back a layer (and the synths) and they've got a lot of angsty New York art rock about them - more Patti than Debbie perhaps. The duality has always been there - I guess it just never registered that much with me.

This particular incarnation or interpretation really was more of that latter art rock side. It was still totally Slow Children and totally captivating. A great experience with a wonderfully congenial atmosphere all around. I wouldn't have missed it for anything. The videos though may not be what some folks expect, but I'd hazard to say that this really may be closest to who Pal really is. Shot as before in 1080p HD and rez'd down to 720p - best watched at that highest setting...

In 12 minute bites. HDV is 4.8mb/sec up to 4GB per segment. That would have only taken 20GB.

Like Yachtingtype mentioned, Brazilian Magazine was a dandy and possibly the truest to album form. I wish i'd taken a vid of that. Now I'm drawing a blank of what else she played. Definitely not Talk About Horses. Does anyone recall if she did East Berlin By Rail and One More Trauma? I seem to remember she did at least one of them. Damn my aging brain.

another gig at The Living Room
'JUST YOU AND ME, ANDREW. STRAIGHT DOWN THE LINE.'
This will be a first for everybody, including 'Slow Children.' From
their very first gig ( at L.A.'s 'Troubadour') they have always had
wonderful musicians onstage with them. Thursday July 8th @ 8pm they
fly solo! as in DUO. Please come cheer 'em on. We look forward to
seeing you there.
