Wha? They couldn't be bothered including any b-sides like "Driftwood"?[V]
Erm...Lois, maybe I'm mistaking your "dream" tracklist for the real thing?[B)]

> A one disc edition would make little sense given the bands 12"s and b-sides.

There's actually a lot of space to fit extra tracks (at least for the first album). Including the album, I have these tracks from JP CD singles/EPs on a CD-R, which clocks in just under 78min:

<pre>
TRACK 11 AUDIO
TITLE "Take on Me extended version"
INDEX 00 37:17:50
INDEX 01 37:23:50
TRACK 12 AUDIO
TITLE "the Sun Always Shines on TV extended version"
INDEX 01 42:14:63
TRACK 13 AUDIO
TITLE "Driftwood"
INDEX 01 50:43:63
TRACK 14 AUDIO
TITLE "the Sun Always Shines on TV instrumental"
INDEX 01 53:51:55
TRACK 15 AUDIO
TITLE "Train of Thought reflection mix"
INDEX 01 60:30:35
TRACK 16 AUDIO
TITLE "And You Tell Me demo version"
INDEX 01 67:34:20
TRACK 17 AUDIO
TITLE "Train of Thought dub version"
INDEX 01 69:29:57</pre>
http://www.discogs.com/master/11544
http://www.discogs.com/master/11501

Mind you, I wouldn't say no to a double-disc set :-). There's a The Blue Sky demo that hasn't appeared on any CD.

11. TRAIN OF THOUGHT (U.S.MIX) 6:57
14. TRAIN OF THOUGHT (REFLECTION MIX) 7:00
03. TRAIN OF THOUGHT (STEVE THOMPSON MIX) 7:00

I think all three are the same.

At first glance where the fuck are the extended and dub versions of I've Been Losing You[:(!] Yet they put the extended version of that cringeworthy Cry Wolf on there no Take On Me extended version either. There is a lot more missing as well but i'm too [|)] to think now.

Is the 12" Tarney Mix of "The Sun Always Shines On TV" the LP version extended? I don't think that has ever been released on CD. However, where is the "Steve Thompson Mix"?

As already pointed out, there are a number of mixes and instrumentals missing here. While I'm happy to have all these unreleased, rare tracks I think that including all the extended mixes and promo versions on these deluxe editions would have been more ideal over demo versions. With that said, at least the Steve Thompson Mix of "The Sun Always Shines On TV" is readily available on other compilations.

I'm really surprised by the missing "Take On Me [Extended Version]" as well. Again, it is available on several collections already. Still should have been here.

I'll be buying these regardless.

I was contacted by someone at Rhino this afternoon -- the tracklists posted on a-ha's site aren't the final versions. They're close, but here are the official tracklists for the 2 reissues:

<a href="http://www.slicingupeyeballs.com/2010/05/07/a-ha-reissues-hunting-high-low-soundrel-days-tracklists/">a-ha’s ‘Hunting High and Low,’ ‘Scoundrel Days’ to be reissued with 28 unreleased tracks</a>

Looking pretty darn good, but I would have like to have seen the 1984 extended version of Take on Me on there. Otherwise, can't wait [:D]

If you look here http://www.discogs.com/a-ha-The-Sun-Alw ... ase/183068 i think you will find this will probably be the Steve Thompson Mix as he is uncredited on that mix. Would be nice if it was this though http://www.discogs.com/a-ha-The-Sun-Alw ... se/2215206

Wow. Completely unimpressed by Scoundrel Days--they should offer a single disc release as well--I have no use for live versions and demos, so disc 2 isn't even worth the cost--and I think I already have the remixes from disc 1 on other CDs, so this is probably going to be a pass for me. And Hunting--as long as all those unreleased tracks are good, I guess it's worth it.

I have to agree that I have no time for demos.

The band did enough quality 12" material to cover the re-issue.

as I enjoy demos and livestuff, both rereleases have a brilliant treacklist for me, can't wait to get them! I definetely prefer those over 5 mixes of one song (like the upcoming Kim Wilde releases) attached to the album, but of course tastes are different. I'd go for demos any day, though.
