as I enjoy demos and livestuff, both rereleases have a brilliant treacklist for me, can't wait to get them! I definetely prefer those over 5 mixes of one song (like the upcoming Kim Wilde releases) attached to the album, but of course tastes are different. I'd go for demos any day, though.

Unless you're talking about those shitty Cure demo's? No one who bought those remasters, wanted "demo's" for a second disc? I sure didn't. "Demo's" IMO(and take it FWIW), are basically songs that weren't good enough to be put on the album initially. So, why would I want to hear them?

I hate getting demos and live versions on bonus cd's. Extended/12" Versions is preferred along with b-sides and unreleased tracks. Bonus dvd's with videos/tv performances are my personal favorites. I held back on buying all of The Cure remasters because they included too many demos. I don't mind one or two demos if they have already ran out of the previously mentioned. A disc entirely demos or majority demos is really useless.

On the Book of Love reissues, they stuck in a couple of live versions instead of sticking in the remix version of "Lost Souls". Still kind of pisses me off until this day.

Not all demos are bad. Sure, nobody wants to hear Robert Smith singing in front of a mirror while he puts on his makeup, but a demo that's been recorded in a studio can sometimes be pretty good (such as some of the Duran Rio sessions).
I have to agree that I have no time for demos.

The band did enough quality 12" material to cover the re-issue.

In regards to Scoundrel Days the only other mix they could have put on there is the dub of of I've Been Losing You as there were no other mixes from that album.Hunting High and Low is a different story altogether as they could quite easily have filled up the second disc with remixes and could have squeezed the other tracks on at the end of the first disc well most of it anyway.

I agree with you OBS that not all demos are bad, for instance Depeche Mode demos. I just have a problem with most of the disc being demos when their are other better options. [:)] Actually, I would love to get original instrumental versions.

These were from the disc included with The Swing Of Things. Great book (and it's now being re-released updated, apparently). I own most of the songs on the reissues, I'm mostly just looking forward to having the original albums remastered as the sound quality is pretty awful on the originals. Let's just hope they're not botched as badly as several of the recent reissues ...

Only five days 'til the L.A. concerts - can't wait!!!

Just curious Lois, where does the Hunting High and Low (Instrumental) come from? I've never seen that on any release and would really love to get it.

http://www.cdwow.com/ has them both cheap as pre-orders,
£8.74 each (Free Shipping) this week, after that 9.99.
I don't think they are cheaper anywhere else....?
And no I don't get paid for recommending that site, but I ordered my own copies from them yesterday.

Well, I pre-ordered hunting high from Rhino when it was still believed it was exclusive to Rhino and not being sold anywhere else, and I have yet to receive any notice that it's being shipped to me any time soon...
