Walked in Amoeba San Francisco today and picked up both Hunting and Scoundrel for $22.99 each. I couldn't believe that they'd have the cds in so soon!! Anyway the sound quality on both is very good. Hunting High.. had a bunch of bonuses that were well worth having as well the 12" mixes. No vinyl noise whatsoever!. Scoundrel is just as good except that there's too many demos. But hey I'm happy. If anyone out there is contemplating buying these re-issues, get them! they're worth it.

On a positive note - It is great to hear that the quality is good.

Given some recent re-issues - this has to be welcomed.

Are the demos any good?

The digi-paks are exclusive to Rhino (I think). I ordered from HMV and they are jewel cases. I'm really pissed off.

Wait, does that mean the US version is digipak and the UK is not?

Mine which are Uk imports were jewel cases as well. As for the demos, some of them might've made good studio tracks.

That's great news that these are jewel cases. I can't be doing with these stupid digipacks unless they provide a sleeve like the legacy ones did.

The USA re-issues purchased from Rhino.com are in digi-paks. They are apparently beautiful - Scoundrel Days has raised/embossed water stains on and 'Hunting High & Low' has that glossy print effect on some of the details in the artwork (dunno what that is actually called!). However, they are almost twice as much in price if buying from the UK... I'm not sure if standard USA stores will have the digi-paks? But the UK is only getting jewel cases.

I just went to check the status of my order(I pre ordered them on June 5th), and they now claim they're on back order...WTF?

BTW, I LOVVVEEEEEE how I was able to get both for the price of one? They're both now at least 25 bucks each, w/one being almost 40 bucks....

There are bonus mp3 tracks on these when you buy the mp3 albums from either Amazon UK or Play. They seem only to be exclusive to the UK though. Bastards could have found some way to fit them on these Cd's [:(]

I'm sure they'll do the same with all future a-ha remasters.

I just got my A-ha digipack for Hunting High and Low, and I have to say I'm very disappointed........, that I didn't purchase both reissues at the same time. Now I have to run back to Rhino to buy Scoundrel Days.

I'm very pleased with this release. CD1 has only minimal volume compression, though a little heavier on the bonus tracks. Still, it's nothing to be too concerned about, and they all sound really good.

CD2 has even less volume compression, which is great since that's the rarities disc. The only slightly negative thing I noticed was about 5 of the songs look to have been from a minorly compressed (as in mp3 compression) source. However, the compression is really only concentrated on the very upper end of the waveform so there appears to be no audible loss.

All in all, this appears to be a very satisfactory remaster project done by skilled professionals. Andy Walter, are you reading???
