Cherry Red does Bangles reissues

Cherry Red does Bangles reissues

First album has only ONE bonus track, Different Light has a whole extra CD, which makes certain remix omissions shocking:

The Different Light reissue looks fantastic. Love it when they include dub versions.

personally, I loathe it when they include dub mixes INSTEAD of the 12" mix, which is exactly what they're doing here. And with TWO CDs, there is no way they are filling 80 minutes on each disc with this track listing, so it's pretty inexcusable not to include the extended remix and the dub. Not to mention, there are TWO different 12" mixes of Walking Down Your Street. Not sure which is on here, but one has only ever been on vinyl while the other was on one of those 5 track '12" singles' collections. They also both could have been included here. These massive reissues are much appreciated, but sometimes they don't dig as deeply and thoroughly as others to really top it off.

I never had much of sonia's SAW stuff, so I'm glad something is making it to CD because I'm a huge SAW collector. But if there are indeed that many mixes, then yeah, it would have been nice to have them on CD.

The Curiosity Killed the Cat album is also being reissued at the same time as the Bangles and Sonia, with a lot of bonus track 12" mixes. I think I had that album on vinyl once, but only bought it for "misfit", and then got rid of it once I got misfit on 12". I might actually check that album out again when it's reissued.

The Curiosity Killed the Cat reissue has the bonus tracks of the three b-sides added.. the other mixes were already on the first pressing of the original CD.
I always associate this album with the first Swing out Sister album, both were on Mercury and had bonus tracks of the mixes on each and came out around same time.

Yeah. That late 80s britpop sound just never really clicked with me, so I only dabbled in the singles for artists like that.

If anyone gets their hands on this release early, I'd be curious to know which version of Walking Down Your Street is on here. There are two very distinctly different 12" versions I have that run nearly the same length. On one of those Columbia 5-track 12" collection discs, there's a version that begins with a beat, that sort of 'harmonica' sound, and then some of the girls intro vocals (this version runs like 5:20). The 12" version I have on vinyl begins with a hint of percussion, then the female vocals, then a series of overlaying guitar and bass riffs (this version runs 5:29).

I ordered this and they have delayed with no new release date. Why? It's not like they're waiting for the Bangles to record anything new.

I received mine today, and seriously, this package is pretty bogus. The bonus disc is such a messy mish-mosh of mixes. Unfortunately, I had found a track listing with times somewhere that specifically listed the bonus mix of Walking Down Your Street as running 5:27, so I did think it was going to be the vinyl mix I've been hoping for on CD, but in actuality, this remix runs only 3 minutes and 18 seconds! It must be a single remix. So NEITHER 12" mix is represented. And considering the bonus CD runs 45 minutes, they could have included both 12" mixes of that song as well as the 12" mix of Walk Like an Egyptian instead of only having the dub and acapella versions that were on the flips side of the 12"! And really, the single remix of Hero Takes a Fall should have been rightfully included on the All Over the Place reissue. And that near 15 minute mega mix of hits--honestly, I never really had any use for those medley mixes, but what the heck, they had the space for it.

And to top it off the Ext. mix of Manic Monday is a lousy vinyl rip.

If I have this

is there any reason to buy either of the Cherry Red releases?

I have the Twelve Inch Mixes and the original pressing of Different Light, so as soon a I received this reissue and found that it didn't have the alternate 12" mix of Walking Down Your Street, I sold it. Unless you want the dub and acapella mixes of Walk Like an Egyptian.
