Dead Or Alive - Thats The Way I Like It - Best Of

Postby Fred Taghon » Wed Sep 22, 2010 5:45 pm

The Murder Mix of "You Spin Me Round" HAS been on CD before. It was released on the 1994 compilation CD "Club Epic - A Collection Of Classic Dance Mixes - Volume 3". I've always felt it was a better overall mix than the Performance Mix, so I'm excited it will be included (hopefully nicely remastered?) If this new compilation features the REAL Wipeout Mix of "My Heart Goes Bang", what was the mix featured on the "Evolution" 2cd compilation???? And yes, why does the Off Yer Mong Mix of "In Too Deep" constantly get passed over? It's always been one of my personal favorite DOA songs, and the remix is absolutely fantastic. I will most likely be buying this compilation, but would have liked to see the 7" Bonus Mix of "Lover Come Back To Me" rather than what looks to be the album version, but there are definitely some great 7" versions here and heck the Mortivicar mix of "Something In My House" is worth the price alone.

I'm pretty positive the mix of My Heart Goes Bang Bang on Evolution IS the wipeout mix, simply faded a little early.

Does anyone know if Hooked On Love (La Vie En Rose Mix) is actually just the LP mix or is it slightly different ?

I compared my US 12" of My Heart Goes Bang to what I have on CD. The mix on Retro Active 6 called "extended remix" is the same as the side on my US 12" that isn't given a remix name and runs 7:20. This is the mix that is essentially remixed to sound like You Spin Me Round with a constant 4/4 disco beat. The flip side of my US 12" is called the American Wipeout mix and runs 6:15--it begins with that sort of laser sound and the beat, retains the Asian inspired riff between chorus and verse from the album mix, and has syncopated rhythms frequently throughout the song instead of a 4/4 beat. This is the mix that is on the 2-disc version I have of "Evolution", but on Evolution, the song runs 15 seconds shorter, so it's either faded early or edited somewhere in between. So the 6:42 version on this upcoming release is a mystery to me at a run time of 6:42, unless anyone has any other mixes to which they can compare the length.

Not come across a Big Revolver Edit - but then, I'm no expert. This is quite a good resource though

That's correct. It appeared on the Japanese 12" releases with the 'Extended Remix' name:

It's been pushed back to November 1st actually. Shame, but will be worth the wait. The cover will be a classic 80s eye patch Pete photo, with some unseen photos from the 'That's The Way I Like It' sleeve/video shoot inside.

Now AmazonUK doesn't even know the actual release date. Sigh. Why is releasing existing Dead or Alive material always like pulling teeth. Man, I'm just having flashbacks of the Japanese 12" Collection that got cancelled. Release this stuff already, we want to buy it.

I'm friends with the guy who has got this released! He's been trying for ages... he'll also be the one behind the 2CD deluxe editions if they come off next year. Depends how this sells I guess... please support it! It's only £3.99. Bargain.

Oh I'll definitely buy it. Love DOA. And if the 2cd re-issues are announced i'm sure a lot of us will be on the pre-order list. Let's just hope that they wont be Japanese cds only and cost a million bucks.
