Yes nobody's really sure what's going on. I know that the album DOES exist as I have a copy (but I know a guy). There's apparently been a little snafu with the release date but I understand it IS coming out soon (and hopefully before the 8th).

Some have said the snippets on amazon don't sound that promising. I actually happen to agree with that - these aren't songs you can get a good feel for in 30 seconds, and generally the clips aren't from the best part of the songs (e.g. the Hurricane clip ends just as the chorus - which is great - gets going). There are now four full tracks available for your dancing and listening pleasure at the RB website:

Don't let "Never Let It Be Said" throw you - it's the last song on the album and it's a bit avant garde (it includes a backwards sample of Buffy Sainte-Marie, among other things). Really, the whole album is fantastic - Simon's best work, methinks. I liked it out of the box, but then I've also been told it's a "grower". Whatever works!

It seems Cherry Red releases are getting delayed quite a lot recently i have noticed. It's still saying this was released on the 11th on their website but i also saw a few albums on there that were supposed to be out in September and are not being released till November now. I wish they would agree on a release date and bloody stick to it instead of fannying people about. That's a very bold statement jaybag thinking this album is better than The Circle & The Square because i feel it would have to be excellent to surpass that. I wish we could get a proper remaster of The Circle & The Square with a disc full of remixes. Severely doubt that will ever happen now.

I can't think of anything that interests me less than a new CD from Red Box.

If nothing else, Barmy, I thank you for keeping the thread alive, if only to post a threadcrap ...

As for being better than TC&TS ... well actually it's hard to compare the two because admittedly the styles of the albums are very different. I do think this album is more heartfelt, mature and tuneful. Will all TC&TS fans like it? Probably not. But there will probably be people who didn't like TC&TS that would like this. Judge for yourself.

LIMITED EDITION DELAYED AVAILABILITY

Hi everyone,

We have spoken to our label and they have informed us that the Limited Edition CD delivery has been delayed. This is due to a printing fault which meant we have had to reprint the packaging to ensure that the product would be of the highest standard.
Unfortunately, this has delayed the delivery of the finished product more than we originally anticipated.

Anyone who has ordered their CDs from Cherry Red should have their orders dispatched next week and from Amazon, the week after. Please accept our apologies for this - we and
Cherry Red are doing our utmost to make sure your orders reach you as soon as possible.

N.B.: The Standard version CD is unaffected by this issue and can be ordered on the Cherry Red wesbite.

The same thing happened with the recent Claudia Brucken reissue except they decided to send all those out with dodgy booklets and people had to email them to get replacements.
