YELLO - Single Collection 1980-2010 + DVD
The "Essential" version along with the version of Rhythm Divine, are def "retouched" for the compilation
Hmm this may not be of interest to everyone here, but anyway Call It Love on the ESSENTIAL album is 4 min 5 sec, just like the original 1987 single edit/version. It sounds exactly the same to me.

I believe it was an edit of one of the Trego Snare mixes

Nono, Yello would never use someone else's remix on a compilation that is supposed to present the "essential" of Yello. Anyway, believe it or not, the record company made an embarassing mistake on the mastering of SINGLES COLLECTION: instead of track 16 Lost Again, "Desire" is played, which is also track 20. I don't have the CD yet, but that's what I heard/read.

I'll have to refresh my memory, but I'm sure that the essential version of Call It Love, the intro at least was from one of the Trego Snare mixes.

Yes I'd heard that too, but I'd heard it was a simple print error, maybe, maybe not !

Yes, good question. That's my project. I hope to be able to ask Yello Office/Boris early next year what their plans are. I guess Boris has been busy this year with the Anthology. /JW

By the way, I got my Anthology set today, and can confirm that track 16 and 20 on the Singles disc are identical. /JW www.discog.info

After reading the relatively thick booklet, although nicely designed etc, it really contains no real new info, only credits and some little "stories" about each song made up by Dieter, mostly takes from earlier CDs, but also he made up new ones. But there are no real comments or liner notes/memories/facts. So, there is still a big need for a proper chronology book (by JW) /JW

I'm just gonna get the cd/dvd best of. But it's only available in Europe right now for a whooping $29.99. I'm sure AmazonUS will eventually get it for a lower price.

from yello site:
The new Yello Anthology has a production error where track 16 Lost Again is instead the song Desire. Raphael attended the resent release party in Berlin and states the following.

"I've spoken to Boris about the Lost Again -> Desire mistake. He said that the problem is know and was caused by a production mistake. There will be a Universal Music Hotline where people can call and arrange for their copy to be sent back and a new copy with the corrected track to be sent to them. ( I don't know the details though and couldn't find info about a hotline on the universal music germany website).

Only the very first pressing, maybe 5000-10000 copies are affected and Boris said that this will likely be a collectors item, just like a wrong imprint on a stamp.

The mistakes afffects both the Singles Collection CD and the Anthology Box release."

That's going to be a real pain for us in the USA, having to send the whole box back for a replacement - maybe just the cd that is faulty? That would be easier. I should be getting my box any day now - how's the dvd look, anyone?

Uh, not likely. It's not as if some rare, unheard and unapproved version was accidentally included. This will forever be seen as nothing more than a faulty disc, no more a collector's item than those inferior New Order pressings.

In reality, Boris is probably aware that's it'll take forever to sell off the initial 10,000 copies and he wants people to hold on to the bad disc and PURCHASE a new copy. Who would fall for this egregious double-dip scheme?
