But does he get any form of royalties from what sells ? I don't know how record companies pay artists now.

He would unless he signed over his royalties to a 3rd party. (He could sell his future earnings for a one time buyout)

Got mine - very pleased with it! For a budget release it's spot-on! I love the Zeus B. Held 'Extended REMIX' of 'Lover Come Back To Me'. I didn't realise there was this mix as well as the 'Extended MIX' - always thought they were just the same by a different name! And of course, the 'Mortevicar Mix', just in time for Halloween! Bliss.

Yay! I got the "it's on its way" email from hmv today.

I hope that Something In My House (7" Remix) is okay. It sounded as though the audio dropped out on the iTunes snippet.

amazon.com isn't getting it until next tuesday unfortunately. Can't wait to get the mortevicar mix. How's the sound quality on that track?

Got mine thru amazonuk.Played it today and loved it. Some of the tracks sounded kinda loud but for the most part it was very good. Hope that enough copies sell to generate the release of those deluxe editions.

Had mine for a few days now. Really enjoyed listening to it, sounds fine to me, maybe a bit loud and a bit tinny in the car but who can complain for £3.99 for just over 79 minutes. Great mixes at the end hope the whole lot appears soon.

got it today from "rebel rebel" in the village- and it sounds GREAT to me.
listening to it in headphones on my laptop as we speak.

the real revelation for me is the 7" of "what i want"- it really gets right down to it, and it's the best of the various mixes, condensed. there is a lot on this cd that hasn't been digital before, i'm thrilled with this.

come on remasters!

thanks to the guys who were involved in this- i think someone on the board knows them...

"i'd do anything" is BRILLIANT in this version!
now the wipe out mix of "my heart goes" is on, and it's great- FINALLY on cd. the other 12" versions are great too!

UPDATE:
um, yeah. it's really loud. took off the headphones (that give a great low-end) and listened to it through my m-audio speakers; the highs, they hurt me. that left-channel high hat is brutal on the SAW songs, and it all feels REALLY compressed. i think the thing is, that is what remasters sound like now. people that never understood subtlety in music, that are too young to now know music that wasn't hyper-compressed and tinny for ipod speakers? they will love the sound. me, well, it's good headphones for this.

collection: A+
sound: B-
BUT: it sounds like these are all non-vinyl, so that's something.

I just got the CD yesterday. I give the sound quality 2 1/2 of 5 stars. It is way too loud and highly compressed. The 'murder mix' of Spin Me is a solid brick. I've heard worse for sure, but at least they didn't try any lame attempts at tape hiss reduction.

On a side note, there was a recently released Altered Images collection also done on the Camden/Sony label. Though I didn't buy it, the sound samples that I heard for each track showed the CD had been entirely remastered................, from vinyl! I don't get that one at all. The albums have all come out on CD from master tapes, yet this new collection were vinyl rips. I'll save my $7 for something else.

Wow, that sucks about the sound. I have one on order but haven't received it yet. Brickwalling is inexcusable for any remaster, but it's particularly harsh on dance music, rendering songs shrill - so while I'm excited for all of the single mixes, I'm sure I'm going to be disappointed in the sound.

Also, someone on Amazon just posted this in their review:

"The major flaws here are that both versions of "Lover Come Back To Me" and "Brand New Lover" are pitched incorrectly (they're slightly slow)"

Anyone else find this? Would suck if it's really true.[:(!]
