Visage - Fade To Grey (Special Dance Mix Album)

Postby The Titan Find » Wed Nov 24, 2010 5:20 am

Hi guys and thanks for making me feel welcome and sorry I haven't replied for a while. By the way, Cherry Red requested permission for the 'Strange Cruise' album over a year ago now. Why companies take so long to respond to these requests is beyond me. To Omar - yes, 'The Titan Find' (aka 'Creature') is indeed the 80's sci-fi 'Alien' rip-off horror film with the mighty Klaus Kinski. I love it and long for the day when it finally gets a proper remastered DVD release! To DJ Pheonix, the first AFOS album is under consideration and will in all probobility get the go ahead. I'm looking forward to that one too. I also asked for the 'Dream Come True' and 'The Light At The End Of The World' albums to be reissued. Fingers crossed... Can't be sure about the bonus tracks of course.
Good ideas with the Andy Taylor and Pete Murphy reissues. I'd like to see John Taylor's albums get the reissue treatment too. Next time I email Tim I'll pass them on. Drop Cherry Red an email too to their 'ideas' mailbox. The more interest the better.
While we're on about reissues, the one at the top of my list is Tik & Tok's 'Intolerence' album. Should be an easy one as Tim Dry released a remastered CD-R version a few years back. Anyone else remember this LP? By the way, anyone on here like Re-Flex? How long did their reissues take!?
Anyway, keep well guys and long live the 80's!
Dave (The Titan Find)

The actual tracks on the tik + tok remaster cd of intolerance are an the whole different versions than were originally released so if a re-issue was to be done of this album it would be better for a collector to have the original release on cd and then a collection of the 7" single mixes and 12" single mixes.

Weirdo, you're right there. I too remember them being different to the original vinyl. Plus the naughty 'A Date With The Palm Sisters' was left off too. It would have to be a 2CD set to fit everything on. Fingers crossed someone releases it properly eh?!

To the titan End...would love to see Cherry Red finish off the Sad Lovers & Giants reissues - a combined Headland/Treehouse Poetry, plus Melting in The Fullness of Time & La Dolce Vita especially with a new album forthcoming in the new year.

The Armoury Show - Waiting For The Flood had a massive number of requests/interest on the CR Message Boards, so hopefully a deluxe edition is forthcoming w/B-sides, BBC Sessions, etc.

Naked Eyes - both albums Burning Bridges + the USA only tracks & B-sides along with Fuel For The Fire + B-sides would make a fantastic 2-disc pack...fits in perfectly to Cherry Red's current reissue campaign.

Finally, would love to Blue In Heaven, Pauline Murray and Music For Pleasure back catalogue releases though I suspect these may be better suited to labels like LTM.

Cheers!

Cherry Red value their customers and wouldn't deliberately ignore emails ;)

Not to be a downer here, but several people on this site have written to Cherry Red and have gotten no replies. They never wrote back about the Belouis Some remastering that was awful. We purchased the cd then they supposedly put out a "better" version of the cd and did nothing to replace the ones we bought here. They never answered back about that or even the mistakes made on cds, like editing the end of one track as the beginning of the song after like on Stephen Duffy's Ups and Downs. They don't always use the masters to remaster and use vinyl transfers. There have been many complaints and questions to them and no one I know of here got a reply of any kind.

I have never gotten a reply for my Danse Society "Looking Through" questions that I sent to Cherry Red and I have sent quite a few. [:(!]

Have to say, I've always found thm very polite and helpful - spoke to them by email over the Hazell Dean query and the recent Claudia Brucken problems and they couldn't have been faster and more pleasant at responding.

And when I suggested they put the Bette Bright album out on CD (plus bonuses) they were quick to say they'd look into it cos it was something they hadn't considered before.

Sorry to hear that some of you others have had problems with Cherry Red. I'm sure the mailboxes vary in who answers them. Maybe that's the reason? Not good enough I know, but try contacting EMI or any of the 'majors' and see what they are like! I have had nothng but helpfulness from CR over the years and am grateful for the many superb reissues they've been responsible for. Sure, many things could have been better (can't they always?) ie. the Landscape 'Manhatten Boogie-Woogie' CD should have been a single album CD with b-sides, but I'm sure that without CR, many of these albums would languish in the major's vaults for years.
It does seem a shame (to put it mildly) that both DJ Pheonix and ApolloZero have had problems. There's nothing worse than sloppy mastering. Mind you, for mistakes, the majors have pretty much cornered the market! Some of the ones in my collection make the eyes water.
Roc51, I can't believe that I forgot to ask about the Naked Eyes albums! I'm a huge fan and have the US compilations, albums and DVD but would love to see the original albums properly reissued. We'll have to get emailing...

Yes, a very unfortunate edit of "Everything Will Change", missing out the best bit.

Hope the Visage thing can be sorted out. My cassette threw a seven years ago.

I know, I know, this topic is over a year old, but I just stumbled upon it, so my apologies.

Weirdo, I would be very interested in hearing your high quality "Fade to grey - Dance Mixes" Version, any chance on a trade? I'm somewhat specializing on doing high quality vinyl rips myself, so maybe I can offer something in return.

Just drop me a line as when you read this.

Just to let you guys know that future Visage reissues by Cherry Red (including the Dance Mix album) were "denied by Universal".
Very, very dissapointing as I'm sure you'll all agree.
