The proposition is ridiculous on it's surface. You're comparing The Queen Of New Wave to some Punk poser who, prolific and critically praised as he is, can't hold a candle to a much more musically evolved artist.

Toyah pushed took music into the stratosphere and to places it had never been. Her groundbreaking songs like... er...

well, her influence reverberates still and can be heard in such bands as... er...

well, only a few chosen insightful actually recognize her incredible genius.

To borrow a phrase, "You can't process her. I don't expect you to."

Just a few thousand more glowing posts and you may begin to understand, haters.

I'm predicting the results of this will be similar to an "Eating an ice cream cone on a sweltering Summer day" vs. "Getting ass-raped by an 18 inch strap-on wrapped in barbed wire" poll. No doubt our illustrious poster toyah would be on the losing end of that one too.

.. had to vote for Elvis. but let me just say (somewhat reluctantly given the atmosphere :-) that I do not dislike Toyah... i just think Elvis Costello produces more meaningful material / is more influencial / has a better musical pedigree.

Also; I'd like to have sex with Toyah, but would not like to have sex with Elvis Costello (even if he has a shower first).

That's all I have to say about that.

I hate reading these things when you're drunk. Is TM saying he would like Toyah to give him the barbed wire strap on more than Elvis fucking his ass with an ice cream cone?

I'm sensing a theme with you.

Oh, and the talentless hack is doing better than I thought she would in the poll.

Elvis Costello?? He only had a couple of hits like 'Pump It Up', 'Watching the Detectives', 'A Good Year for the Roses', a flash in the pan. As for Toyah, she had such groundbreaking hits like 'Thunder in the Mountains', 'Rebel Run' and 'I Want to be Free' (a wish soon granted by her record label) then went on to be globally popular for years to come. After all, you would have to be a hater and delusional to believe that isn't true, right?
