Top 5 XTC songs (w/guest: Andy Partridge)

Postby ghosty » Sun Jun 12, 2011 7:12 am

Here's part 2 of my interview with Andy Partridge. I count down my Top 5 favorite XTC songs while Andy tells us a little bit about each one...and in some cases, breaks out his guitar to show how he wrote them.

Excellent interview. I'm jealous as all hell.
Someday, I'd like to talk to one of my favorite
songwriters.

Here's my top 5 XTC songs:

1. Are You Receiving Me
2. Take This Town
3. Across This Antheap
4. Great Fire
5. Everyday Story Of Smalltown

Honorable mentions (Sorry, couldn't stop at 5):

Church of Women
Crowded Room
English Roundabout
Love On A Farmboy's Wages
Reel By Reel

Interesting song choices. That was highly enjoyable, and leaves me wishing these guys could kiss and make up for one last hurrah. I know there's another brilliant album in them. I think my favorite XTC songs are their earlier works, but the later albums are definitely interesting and much more complex.

Thanks all. Make sure to scroll down to the other thread I posted that says "Andy Partridge Interview". That one's also an hour long and will only be up on the site until Saturday.

1 The Man Who Sailed Around His Soul
2 Earn Enough for Us
3 That's Really Super, Supergirl
4 Respectable Street
5 Funk Pop a Roll

You can guess the record to which my preference is skewed.
