Hubert Kah Artist Edition

Postby chris74 » Sun Sep 04, 2011 4:19 am

Dear Sean, I do not want to make waiting even harder for you but this double CD set is probably the best release of this year! Although I have almost every song on vinyl already I am so happy to finally have everything in digital quality. And speaking of quality: it is by far better than the five mixed 12" collections Blank and Jones have released so far except for maybe a slightly too well emphasized bass. But this is really marginal.

Lucky you are over there in Germany Chris. [:)] Crazy me, I actually ordered 5 copies from 3 different stores. They've all been confirmed shipped as of several days ago so it's just a waiting game. Worse for us over here in the US as Monday is a national holiday and the postal service is closed. [}:)] Really happy to hear that the sound quality is excellent. I did read this from the Blank & Jones page and it just sounds incredible:

There are only a few german bands who were
as successful as Hubert Kah in the 80s.
After their perfect definition of the
"Neue Deutsche Welle (NDW)"
Until this day the album "Goldene Zeiten" is considered
one of the best German recordings of the 80s.
It was re-recorded in english
and brought them to big fame
in Japan and the USA as well.
As a result the next album
was recorded in english right away
and gave them the international hit singles
"Limousine" and "Military Drums"
togehter with new producer Michael Cretu
(later "Enigma") and Armand Volker.
Blank & Jones are longtime fans
and have now searched the archives
with all three original band members Markus Löhr,
Hubert Kah and Klaus Hischburger.
As the result we present
all the original 12" mixes of the 80s.
All versions appear on CD for the first time
and are carefully remastered
from the original master tapes.
Beside the extended versions here is also
the very rare "Japan EP"
included as well as the Francois Kevorkian Remix
of the song "The Picture".
The 16 side booklet includes all original artwork
plus many unseen photos.

Fantastic set - I was listening to it all over the weekend. What I like best is that Blank & Jones have created new extended versions for two of my favourite Hubert Kah tracks:
Wenn der Mond die Sonne berührt & Solo Tu
Great stuff!!

@Sean: I know this feeling so well when I ordered a CD and I have to wait until it finally arrives (it recently took me one full month to get a record from Australia!) but in German we have a saying "Vorfreude ist die schönste Freude", it can roughly be translated as "anticipation is the greatest joy". So enjoy the greatest joy right now [:)]

[:D] Super happy today, a package came in and it included one of my Hubert Kah cd's. To keep a long story short, awesome, awesome, awesome. I am not an audio expert but I think it sounds incredible. The artwork is not perfect but pretty cool nonetheless. All my friends on the NW Outpost who are holding back on buying this for some reason should press the "place in basket" and order right away. Highly recommended. One of my favorite bands of all times and listening to this compilation reminds me why.

I got mine, too, and I think it's fantastic. The mastering is flawless. I hope they continue to curate great collections like this. I'd especially love to see an Alphaville compilation. So many great mixes and b-sides to be had.

Alphaville is the next logical band for them to do for this series. I hope the inclusion of the Palace Mix of "Jerusalem" on So80's Vol. 6 is a sign they are focusing in on that project.

From a German music forum I know that they would like to release an Alpaville collection. However, this requires among others their permission...

I'd sell half of my soul for such a collection (half of it is already the devil's for the Hubert KaH collection [;)])!

@Chris. [:D] I think I did the same thing. Crossing my fingers for Alphaville.
