Checkered Past, with future Power Station vocalist Michael des Barres (Detective, remember the WKRP episode?), plus Clem Burke, Nigel Harrison, Frank Infante, and Steve Jones. Yeah, it got that ugly.

Er, U2 are not a super group

Just from my personal perspective, I can only muster one true supergroup and they are IMO how you define what a supergroup is, and may have been considered the first......from the late 60s.

Yes, I know it is not new wave, but for simple perspective on "supergroup" I have to say Blind Faith. A 5-star album, their only release.....all members had strong music pedigrees prior and got to together to record one superb record. Blind Faith featured Eric Clapton (many groups including John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and The Yardbirds), Ginger Baker (Cream), Rick Grech (Family) and Steve Winwood (spencer Davis Group, Traffic)....to mean this is the definitive supergroup and the one album a masterpiece. One and done and the rest is genius legacy.

You are absoulutely correct.

The problem with this thread is that the origibal Op doesn't know what a supergroup is !!

Hence 2/3rd's of the comments are incorrect too!

With the 80's the term "super group" was very looked down on by many as it symbolised rich musicians forming a band together.

It's such a shame that none of the groups I listed elsewhere in this thread where pretty awful &/or self-indulgent.

Unlike Cream who were of course fantastic
