The Christians Reissues

Just saw on Amazonuk. The Christians debut album and Colour will be reissued as 2cd deluxe editions from Cherry Red in April .

Good news! The first album has a lot of bonus tracks. [:p]

It seems that the second album has only one disc.

Not that I have a problem with The Christians, but really? 2CD sets?

There are so many other bands who warrant this deluxe treatment and have a wealth of material never released on CD before and they choose The Christians??

Meanwhile, China Crisis back catalogue languishes in forgotten land; The Fixx,Comsat Angels & The Sound stuff is mostly out of print; Sad Lovers And Giants gets paltry single disc reissues (with no remastering!); other Cherry Red acts such as Snake Corps, Wolfhounds, The Essence, etc remain OUT OF PRINT...yet we get The Christians and a load of other crap that Cherry Red has been releasing lately.

Time and time again, we send requests to the label to consider X and Y, stuff that people really want like Armoury Show, The Passions, etc and in return we get The Christians, Beloius Some/Tin Tin represses, Cutting Crew, Sinita, etc...no wonder consumers are getting fed up...just saying...

I'm sure these reissues are being used to promote a brand new album out this summer . Instead of doing a greatest hits ,a deluxe treatment ( first time ever) is much appreciated. Let's hope CR doesn't fuck up.

It's also confirmed (for example on amazon.co.uk) that the reissues are a part of a co-ordinated press and national/regional radio and TV campaign which a new album this summer is also part of. The band will be touring the UK throughout the year in support of the campaign, including appearances at the prestigious Isle Of Wight and Rewind festivals during the summer season.

While I concur that some other bands are more deserving of a deluxe treatment, I am curious to hear the "Forgotten Town" remixes; always loved that particular tune.

It just seems to me that reissues from Cherry Red are so random...why no more Shriekback? Why not finish the Sad Lovers And Giants reissues? Peter Murphy reissues? They have a stable of releases that have gone out of print (B-Movie, Steve Diggle, The Essence, Snake Corps)...they claim to listen to their customers but then the releases most requested don't seem to get issued...

Both these were supposed to have been released yesterday the 30th yet my amazon order is now saying the 17th May and nobody else has them in stock. Typical Cherry Red crap delaying releases.
