<br>Strange that they would include outtakes from 1984! And even from April 1985, as this remix compilation wasn't conceived until autumn 1985. Yes it's nice to hear unreleased tracks, but it would also be nice if someone at ZTT actually organized all the tracks from the beginning and decided "this track goes here, this one goes there", depending on what kind of track it is and when it was recorded and for what purpose. Ideally, it would be a multi CD set, with the first disc being the "album", a second disc could be single versions and B-sides, a third disc the 12" mixes, then the Wishful Thinking disc with extra tracks recorded during the same 39 hours as the rest of the album, then further discs with outtakes etc, in chronological order based on recording date. As it is now, the deluxe Cd of the main album is a misch masch of rare & unreleased.
Add to that the "Outside World" Cd that has mainly the "rare tracks", and the confusion is complete. Planning ahead is the key.
In fact, the remix single p: Machinery (Reactivate) (7" and 12" version) came out in connection with Wishful Thinking (Nov 1985), and those versions could have been bonus tracks on the CD.

It seems there's still no real 'logic' in Ian Peel's curatorship for those Element series. Element 21 is also a good example.

Hi Luke,
I feel that Ian Peel gets a very raw deal from fans, I don't think he has the final say on track selection, also it's availability of material.
People assume that there is tons of unreleased tracks in the Vault, if the first edition of the Liverpool remaster is any indication, then probably not.
