PRINCE - Original Album Series [Box set]

PRINCE - Original Album Series [Box set]

5 albums in a box

No extra tracks! What a waste! The target group is probably "newer" fans who want to own the albums on a disc but does not care about a booklet or extra tracks. Hmmmm.

Also a last ditch effort from Warners to get a little money out of the back catalogue before the albums slowly revert back to Prince (He's already remastered his first 4 albums and is shopping them around)

Release date seems to have moved to the 25 June 2012 and yes it has vanished from most sites.

This of course has been a matter of great debate amongst Prince fans.

The "Ultimate Prince" release for example, was not remastered from the original master tapes, it was in fact remastered from a "digital source".

Hopefully we will indeed get the albums properly remastered, but I think we should told our breath !

I hope Prince gives the news to Berlin that they need to remaster their back catalog, too.

Recently Prince spoke to the guys who host the Peach and Black Podcast (the weekly unofficial Prince podcast) and said that while he's personally remastered the first 4 albums he has no plans to release them on CD because he feels that market is dead. If they DO get released I suspect it'll be digital only and hopefully done by someone other than Prince, who's screwed up his internet releases so badly that he wound up taking down his own website after complaints from fans.
Hopefully we will indeed get the albums properly remastered, but I think we should told our breath !

They haven't been withdrawn...they're on the shelfs here in Australia, direct from the EU...and a very reasonable A$19.99...I'm not a fan as there are no extra tracks and I'm not certain if they've been remastered.
