New Order remasters 2008

New Order remasters 2008

Postby ranchfrogs » Mon May 21, 2012 8:16 am

I want to get these but how will I know that I am ordering the corrected remaster? They list them on Amazon (double disc) I am just concerned about getting the remaster that was done incorrectly.

Thanks

Do NOT buy from amazon unless you are prepared to return them if they turn out to be the unfixed versions. Buy from Rhino (although they are expensive). There are various ways to tell which ones are fixed based on appearance of the cover or disc, but some are not "foolproof" unless you actually listen for the identified errors.

I would like to know the answer to that question as well. I'm pretty sure the discs were only fixed for the American market and they never bothered about anywhere else also Ideal Copy were selling the fixed versions but i dunno if the site is in operation any more. I have heard the fixed versions and to be honest you are better off sticking with the originals at least then your ears won't bleed with that loudness crap.

I've read that the 2009 pressings, which are the corrected mastering, did not come with the outer slipcase, but I cannot confirm firsthand. If they cannot bother getting it right, then I cannot be bothered paying money for this.

Some CDs without the slipcase are still flawed. Also I agree the older CDs sound better so these are only worth getting for the bonus discs.

It requires major research and effort to get the right ones. However, as I said, I do think buying from Rhino US is safe. Not sure about Rhino UK.

This. I finally got the replacement, or "corrected" versions, but they came in paper sleeves & they didnt even send me all thefixed ones, I had to bug them for almost another month to send me 2 more replacements

Just seeking clarification...was it the bonus discs that were stuffed or the original albums?

Most of the early bonus discs were vinyl rips while the main album discs were too loud. Although I have to admit that the version of PC&L with the slip case I have sounds just fine.
