If you are a Killing Joke fan, ala "Nighttime", you may want to check out their new album MMXII or whatever it is called, and the previous album Absolute Dissent (while I am at it). Sounds like they decided to go back and revisit the era that gave them success and it sounds friggin' fantastic. Don't let the shitty artwork deter you, jump right in on these. I haven't followed them for years and am blown away by these releases. (Maybe its me)

Birthday Party just released their three 80's albums on Masterdisk remastered vinyl. Only 500 made of each. They sound unbelievable if you are still into the whole vinyl thing.

Hearing rumours from a friend overseas about Chameleons UK spinoff band Sun and Moon may be getting a 2 CD deluxe treatment of the S/T album and related singles and live cuts. There are inferior quality bootlegs floating about on ebay, perhaps this will legitimately replace those. yippee.

Holograms - Self titled album on Captured Tracks is the best post-punk album I've heard from a current band in years. The band is from Sweden, don't know alot about them but... Sharp, good playing, nice sound, a bit dark, gothy, edgy, all around great album.

Thats all I have for this one. i'm sure something else will come up as soon as I post this. Any suggestions from you guys and gals on old bands making killer stuff or new ones making killer old sounding stuff?

here's what the NYTimes said about the Holograms:

Holograms

"On the heels of the Danish band Iceage, here are more very young and aesthetically certain post-punks bringing the anxious and unsettled side of the Scandinavian brain to this country, playing as if their aim is to invent recombinations of records from 1979. Holograms’ rhythms are fast and spindly or slow and processional, sometimes full of spark and paranoid energy, sometimes drained of it. It’s hollowed-out guitar music with an analog synth generating squelchy melodies or long-tone chords, and a singer (Andreas Lagerstrom) who makes all songs dire, yelping chants. Several tracks from this Swedish band’s first, self-titled album on Captured Tracks are right on the money: “Apostate,â€￾ “Stress,â€￾ “A Tower.â€￾ Holograms plays its first New York show at 285 Kent in Brooklyn on Sept. 8; I have a feeling it’s going to be good"

RE: Killing Joke, these LPs are the first from the reformed original lineup. Alongside the just released Down By The River 2CD/DVD set (only available from Pledge Music) this is a return to form for a band that goes from strength to strength and remain as influential as ever. Reviews for the studio albums have glowed, with album off the year accolades abound. I've stuck with the group all this time and they've never sounded as good.

RE: The Sun And The Moon...I'm trying to confirm this. The band really want to issue a deluxe of Strange Times but Geffen isn't budging.

Sad Lovers And Giants are putting finishing touches on a new studio album. Some tracks have already been previewed live: Silent Decay and Day Of Reckoning (search YouTube to hear) It is hoped the new LP hits by Christmas.

Modern English, with original lineup, is working on a new album and are currently touring.

Section 25 are working on a new one. Their recent single, Inner Drive, was a corker, pure electro goodness.

Keep an eye out for new artist projects at Pledge Music. Will Sargeant, Killing Joke, Gang Of Four and more have/had projects on the go.

Oh, and the Ian McCulloch acoustic album, Live at Liverpool Cathedral is pretty nice, still haven't heard the new solo album from Pledge Music.
