Is there still a demand for new wave?

Seems like it was right on the cusp of another comeback a few years ago, and then gone again. VH1 tried to bring a few bands back and the momentum may have been there and then nothing. What has to be done to bring new wave back to the masses like the way hair metal has/was brought back? Do we need Gary Numan to do a show like Brett Micheals did, or have the guys from A-ha go to college like Tommy Lee did?

How about Annie Lennox, Marc Almond, Cyndi Lauper, <br>Kevin Rowland or Trevor Horn being a judge on either <br>American Idol, The Voice or America's Got Talent.

Any of the names above would be better than Steven Tyler <br>of Aerosmith, who has perpetuated the "Heavy Metal - Hard Rock" <br>fad.

Maybe if we pool our money together and bought out MTV/VH1 <br>and pulled all the Metal programing for pre-1993 120 Minutes <br>reruns, London Calling and IRS's The Cutting Edge. Then we <br>can buy the rights to USA Networks Night Flight, Radio 1990 <br>and New Wave Theater hosted by the late great Peter Ivers.

I think it is back in a roundabout way... This doesnt happen much these days but every time I venture into a shopping complex, Urban Outfitter, Gap, Hollister, or Vans store, Pei Wei, etc all i ever hear is 80's punk and wave. No metal, just 80's. Metal fans are rabid and more in your face but new wave fans are more underground... 80's wave does need a better PR agent though. The best stuff still goes unheard.
