Hiya!

I'm a new NWO member, and have recently discovered the DC hub - it ROCKS! I noticed that some people were talking about the current spate of indie artists that are kickin' it retro-wave style, and I just wanted to let you know I have a whole folder of mp3's dedicated to indie artists in the genre that I'm currently sharing in the hub. My suggestion - download the whole folder - every song in there is a gem. Just get my filelist (under user Horrorgrrl) and search for the folder titled Current Indie New Wave/Post Punk/Dream Pop. Of course I also have some old school new wave as well - so download and enjoy! Rock on!

Greetings,

Has anyone been successful on getting onto the hub using an APPLE MAC G4 COMPUTER running OSX? I have politely posted several times asking for help with this but I have recieved no responses. I know that i'm in the minority group by owning a MAC but its a great machine for making music. I have read that others have MACS & need the same info. I'm not sure whether they were able to connect. Any MAC connection help would be great.

Sincerely,
Justin

Interesting hub stats today [update]...

5 users with greater than 100 gigs each!
36 users with 2.0 terabytes shared!

This is pretty crazy. [:p]

DGJ, when you first get in and then get disconnected, just hit "reconnect". That should pop up the password prompt. Then you're off and running [8D]

Arcadia,
Thanks for the tip. I'll try that. I set up my firewalls with the following ports open:

589, 427 Personal File Sharing
3619 iTunes File Sharing

Do you know if I should I have any other ports open?

DGJ...you will also get disconnected if you don't have your share setting pointed to a directory with at least 1 GIG of files...and 5309 is the standard port...see you there...[:)]

Just a helpful hint... if you want to know who you CAN connect to (ie who's firewalled or has no slots) just do a "mp3" search. It will show all users that you CAN connect to and their slot (or lack of) situation. A great way to quickly scan the users and then you can browse any open slots users rather than trying to probe firewalled users. [;)]
The hub is setup, ready to go.

Sometime this weekend, probably tomorrow evening, I'll email everyone the information on how to connect and brief tutorial on how to configure your client. See Natephish's post for what to download.

I probably won't post the connection details in the thread because we're using usernames/passwords. So, if you're interested, please post to ensure you get emailed with the details and a u/p. Once it gets going, Ops will be able to sign up new people if, say, one of your friends wants to join.

If someone could help by setting up a tutorial how to rip music from cd/record, that would be quite helpful for new users.

Thanks.
Daniel.
