Electronic s/t reissue coming
I finally tracked down a copy of the magazine. The Electronic reissue was listed as an October release, and the Seal reissues were listed for December 1. Seeing as the Electronic release didn't happen and there is no info on upcoming Seal reissues anywhere, I'm wondering how legit this information is in the first place?
I frankly think that magazine was talking a load of bollocks about these Electronic and Seal reissues.[/quote]

I'm so angry about that right now! :I :I :I

I posted a question about this on Classic Pop's Facebook page and got this response:

"Thanks Don. We get our release info direct from record labels. The Electronic release has been put back three times now and is currently scheduled for Feb. Similarly with Seal - they have been put back and we are yet to get a new date. We'll let you know when we find out..."

Hmmm. I want to believe them, but it is strange that no other music publications anywhere have posted any news about these releases, despite the fact that the info supposedly comes directly from the record labels.

Yeh, after an initial reaction I thought somewhat similar about that too. But seeing albums getting delayed several times now still makes me feel angry.
Off topic again: The Fine Young Cannibals reissues have been put back as well. 7 December 2012 as Amazon suggests or 3 January 2013 as SuperDeluxeEdition says has yet to be seen. (http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/ ... s-delayed/).

If these Seal and Electronic reissues were due to be released then they would have been listed on the likes of amazon for preorder even if they were to be delayed as most Cherry Red releases are always put back yet they still appear for preorder. Methinks someone has been telling lies in that magazine.

More likely they just jumped the gun a bit. Classic Pop is run by Ian Peel, who as ZTT's house archivist would almost certainly be the person who put together any Seal reissues in the first place.

It's happening - just received an email from Recordstore.co.uk -

An expanded 2 disc edition of Sumner and Marr's 1991 debut as Electronic.

'Electronic' sounds a little more like New Order than the Smiths. The three singles from the album remain the highlights: "Get the Message," "Feel Every Beat" and "Getting Away with It" featuring Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys.

The project has been described as a joyous venn diagram of Sumner and Marr’s influences. Although ostensibly coming from different disciplines, the experimental dance pop of New Order and the full-bodied jangle of The Smiths, their common interests were many: dance music, a good tune and pushing musical boundaries.

The release includes 8 previously unreleased tracks including alternate versions, edits & instrumentals.

Tracklisting

Seriously what numbskull compiled this ? The second disc of full of edits and why the hell are there two tracks on it from different albums Twisted Tenderness and Until The End Of Time. The edit of Free Will is not unreleased as i have it on something. There are no mixes of Disappointed,Get The Message or Feel Every Beat on it either and even though i do have these i would like to have had them them in remastered form. The biggest fuck up on this i can see is that Gangster (FBI Mix) is missing when it was only available on on the US Maxi CD. I will be sticking with my 1994 remaster.

Actually thinking again where the hell is Lucky Bag on this release [?] This is a much better compilation http://www.discogs.com/Electronic-Elect ... se/1363309 Just a pity it's a promo and will probably be difficult to try track down.

Exactly!

I'm sticking with my CD and CD singles from the 90's. This 'remastered' compilation is another failing in a long row. It's irritating to put (unreleased) tracks from the 2nd and 3rd album with the first. Why not releasing ALL the B-sides and the remixes from that album period (There is even space left on the first disc!) ?!
Why not putting a sticker on the front: 'compiled by morons'. (?!)
Why are fans ignored over and over again ?! This was a unique chance to put everything nicely in place over 2 CD's.

Again, there are more questions than answers.

What in the world? The presence of the Twisted Tenderness tracks on there is absolutely mystifying. And as has already been noted, there are none of the excellent 12" mixes of the singles, no Lucky Bag, no original version of Getting Away with It, no Disappointed, etc. That has got to be the strangest bonus disc I've ever seen.

Who is releasing this? Rhino? Edsel? I can't imagine Rhino doing something this terrible...

It's a right mess. All those tracks from the following album eras says to me there will be no more reissues. Okay, some of this stuff is unreleased but they're only edits.

What IS missing is the original Stuart James-produced version of GAWI from the "Electromix" twelve inch, which has never been released on CD. A glaring error.

There ARE lots of remixes, two of GAWI by Mike Pickering and Graeme Park, two DNA mixes for "Get The Message", I think 5 mixes for "Feel Very Beat" (including a fabulous Danny Rampling mix) plus all the accompanying b-sides. So it wouldn't have been hard work to dig out some of them. Yet again, like "The Best Of Electronic" I'll be forced to burn my own compilation - or at least a iTunes playlist.

Talking of iTunes, the "Electronic (Special Edition)" on there which appears to have been available for a couple of years features a lot of the remixes mentioned - maybe they've tried to avoid replicating this?
