Hey all,

Just wanted to let everyone know. Figures and Ashes and Diamonds are now available on CD on amplifier.co.nz. No bonus tracks, no mention of the master source or whether they are official CDs or CDRs.

Very cool, whatever the background might be.

Whatever the quality, they're official as the link to that shop is on Zaine's own website

I know we were all questioning the mastering source when these were first announced on Zaine's site, but I got mine and can say the sound is great. There are absolutely NO mentions on either CD of whether or not they used master tapes (no mention at all of how these CDs were created), but I don't hear any kind of vinyl 'sounds.' Each disc comes in the full sized jewel case with the curved edges, and the booklets include full lyrics (no liner notes). Real CDs, not CDRs.

What were the prices, translated to USD/GBP or Euro?

I didn't really pay much attention, just charged away, but I believe the total in USD was like 50 bux with shipping.

Zaine's two 80s albums have also been reissued in Japan as mini-lp cd replicas, with bonus tracks.

I've got the Jap CD of Figures, the 5 bonus tracks are from the 12"s of Figures and Swing (inc his version of Ulravox's 'Passionate Reply'. Sounded fine, but that was only using the least preferred method of analysis, ie 'Ears'.

I got both cds and am pretty sure the Ashes and Diamonds is vinyl rip. I have to listen carefully to Figures. It's a pitty both are heavily compressed and does not sound vivid at all.

On my Jap CD Figures are 6 bonus tracks. Including track Flowers (7" Version), this track is hidden.

Just got my Japanese CDs, they are generally excellent, apart from Passionate Reply on Figures, which is a vinyl rip that sounds like the needle is caked in dirt. I'd say it was unlistenable.
