Electronic s/t reissue coming

Is it possible (however improbable) that the songs "Twisted Tenderness" and "Until the End of Time" existed in demo/embryonic form during the writing of the first album? That would at least explain their inclusion here.

Still, the other omissions are inexcusable. I'm guessing EMI (who I now see is responsible for this release) excluded all of the excellent 12" mixes in order to avoid paying royalties to the people who mixed them back in the day (DNA, Danny Rampling, etc.).

AND another thing... :)

Why couldn't they have tucked the b-sides from this era away on the end of CD1? There's a good half hour or so of room on there, thus freeing up room for all this other shit plus the best remixes (Park, DNA, Rampling/Lorimer and the Art Of Mix's "Gangster").

Stephen Hague's "Feel Every Beat" single mix had better be on it or there will be trouble. They could have reverted back to the Red Factory sleeve as well.

Still, it's not as if this is the first time a New Order/Joy Division/Electronic release has been screwed up.

Could be, though I remember Sumner suffering from writer's block during the making of the "Raise The Pressure" so it's unlikely that "Twisted Tenderness" would have been left over until the next album given the trouble coming up with songs. However, "Twisted Tenderness" doesn't really fit in with the rest of it's parent album - it sounds like it should really be on "Raise The Pressure". Which makes this "guitar vocal mix" sound a bit odd. They can't be from the 1990/1991 recording sessions though surely?

I'm not sure that EMI would have to pay the remixers again, would they? Is that how it works? I thought they'd have been given a flat fee for their work back in the day.

You're probably right... the remixers were paid once and that's it. I'm just speculating and trying to make sense of something that on the surface MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL!!! :(

I'm guessing that there was a hope of reissuing the other two albums, but that's not going to happen, so the tracks that would have been on them have been added to this release, and the remixes removed because they were available through iTunes already on the "Special Edition". It's the only way I can reconcile such a balls-up. They could have done all that and still managed to put on essential tracks - and the DNA version of "Get The Message" IS essential. They even performed it on Top Of The Pops.

I wonder if Frank Arkwright remastered this album? It should sound good if he did.

Did "Raise The Pressure" actually get a release in the US and if so, on what label? Because by the time of "Twisted Tenderness" they were off Warners and the album got a belated release through Koch Records. I don't remember any imports in the UK for anything from "Pressure".

EDIT - no worries - it was released on Warners.

Yeah, it was Warner in the US. But unlike the first album, none of the singles from RTP were released in the US, at least not on CD. Maybe as promos.

Ha ha ha. He just couldn't have put it better.
Like the rest of you on this forum, I've waited for its reissue for a long time too and now got this utterly crap tracklisting.
Why couldn't they have replicated the existing iTunes edition instead? Yeh, who are people sitting in their offices indeed?! [:(!]

It's om amazon for preorder priced £18.77 it's claiming to be an import as well. They can import it back to where it came from as far as i'm concerned.

The remixes are commissioned as Works For Hire, meaning the label owns them. In some cases (more often recently), top name remixers may have a point or two on the release, so they could receive some minimal royalty, but their permission or rights are not required to re-release their works.

I was going to comment but as you all know much more about this than i, i won't bother. Other than to say i knew it was missing some Getting away with it mixes. I think i had two 12"s of that not sure how many mixes that equated too although i still have the 12"s somewhere i should think. If memory serves one had a white cover the other was black

Anyone know what THIS is? It says it is THREE discs, which may mean there will be a version that actually includes the excellent remixes and b-sides. Then again, it could be just an errant entry on amazon's part. Release date is 8 April.

It better be true, 'cause from what I understand (according to fans worldwide), the '2-CD set' is just another grand failure in the same vein as, let's say, last years "25th anniversary box-sets" of Michael Jackson's Bad album or Level 42's Running In The Family album or Peter Gabriel's So album.

I can't find anyone, I repeat NOBODY, who's positive about this 2-CD set.

However, Don, I really like your compilation:

Disc 1: Album + B-Sides
1. Idiot Country
2. Reality
3. Tighten Up
4. Getting Away with It
5. Patience of a Saint
6. Gangster
7. Soviet
8. Get the Message
9. Try All You Want
10. Some Distant Memory
11. Feel Every Beat
12. Lucky Bag (b-side to “Getting Away with It”)
13. Free Will (b-side to “Get the Message)
14. Second to None (b-side to “Feel Every Beat”)
15. Lean to the Inside (b-side to “Feel Every Beat”)
16. Lucky Bag (Miami Edit)
17. Free Will (12#8243; Mix)

Disc 2: Single Versions and Remixes
Singles:
1. Getting Away with It (Original Version) [Previously vinyl only]
2. Get the Message (US Single Mix)
3. Tighten Up (Edit) [Previously on US-only promo, very rare]
4. Feel Every Beat (Single Remix)
5. Disappointed (Single Mix)
Mixes:
6. Getting Away with It (Vocal Remix)
7. Getting Away with It (Extended Version)
8. Getting Away with It (Nude Mix)
9. Get the Message (DNA 12#8243; Groove Mix)
10. Feel Every Beat (UK 12#8243; Remix)
11. Feel Every Beat (DNA Remix)
12. Feel Every Beat (Tactile Remix)
13. Disappointed (Electronic Mix)
14. Disappointed (808 State Remix)
15. Gangster (FBI Mix)
16. Idiot Country Two

It looks like a mistake on amazon stating that it's 3 discs unless they have decided to add another disc after all the negative feedback and that's the reason why it's been delayed.
