The Sound - All Fall Down Reissued!! 25 Feb 13

The Sound - All Fall Down Reissued!! 25 Feb 13

Postby roc51 » Mon Feb 18, 2013 3:03 pm

Fantastic news as the indie label 1972 continues their reissue series of the late, great post-punk band, The Sound.

All Fall Down will be reissued on 25 February. There are no details on the track listing but I am assuming this release is in line with the previous reissues of Jeopardy & From The Lion's Mouth in that there will be no bonus tracks. For bonus tracks, it's worthwhile to track down the long OOP (and expensive) Renascent remasters.

Great news indeed!
I love it when the releases by the lesser known artists/bands are getting reissued.
I just wonder when the Fingerprintz long deleted albums would get theirs.

Just got my copy in the mail today. It sounds great! It's a little light on liner notes (there are none--just lyrics), but I'll live.

Incredible band that I got turned on to thanks to this board.
They immediately became a favorite of mine - insightful lyrics and a stellar bassist.
How they went virtually unnoticed in the 80's baffles me.

Just popped the lp on for old times sake. 'Where The Love Is" still brings a tear to my eye...

Mine is enroute to me...can anyone post the track listing? I suspect it is the original LP minus the bonus tracks that surfaced on the Rensascent reissue a number of years ago (shame as we still don't get a CD release of B-side, Oiled)

I just got my copy today. Regular digipack with original album artwork and lyric insert. 10 tracks, remastered ..., from vinyl. Yes, you can hear vinyl rumbles in the quiet passages, and even some pop removal leftovers at the beginning of track 6. But in all fairness, it's one of the better vinyl transfers I've heard. That being said, I'm still returning mine to Amazon for a refund because my vinyl remaster retains the fidelity and some other sounds that have been compromised for this transfer. I think this is the same exact transfer from the 1st CD issue. I'm not concerned about the missing bonus tracks, because I listened to them on YouTube and they didn't sound that great, and sounded like they were at the wrong speed.

For those curious for a side by side sample to determine if you would like to buy the new CD, here is a clip to download. It contains samples of two songs, the first samples are from my vinyl remaster, the second are the new. When you hear their CD transfer you will hear lower fidelity and a very noticeable difference in the bass drums. Theirs has a dull thud sound:

Was the Renascent All Fall Down cd mastered from vinyl ?
I seem to remember that only Jeopardy & Live Instinct were mastered from vinyl by Renascent.

Correct. The liner notes said that as the master tapes couldn't be found.

So let me get this straight. The Renascent CD was mastered from the original tapes. The 1972 CD is a vinyl rip? How lame is that?

The original CD is the same vinyl remaster as the new reissue. Perhaps the masters for this album were found, but they didn't pay for restoration. Remember the Thompson Twins 'Set' debacle from years ago. Pictures of the tape boxes in the artwork, but a terrible vinyl transfer to save cash.

Anyway, here is a link to the original 1st CD issue on YouTube. You can clearly hear that awful, dull and thuddy bass on the opening track as I mentioned in my posting.
