Hi
OK - so here are 5 random albums that for me have entirely useless titles that fail spectacularly to help anyone with what's inside...or sometimes may contain a message about the artist's career (see #4 below). What others do you have for discussion?!
1) "Exciter" - Depeche Mode...quite frankly their dullest ever album which failed to get above a slow-burn setting on any tracks. Such a shame coming after the excellent "Ultra" - thank God it appears to have been a one-off blip!
2) "Dance" - Gary Numan...but you couldn't. Not when listening to this particular album anyway. Despite containing gems such as She's Got Claws, Night Talk, Slowcar To China it certainly wasn't D.I.S.C.O. was it?
3) "Erotica" - Madonna...more like flaccid soft-porn I think most will agree. Especially following on so quickly from the 'SEX' book fiasco. By this time no-one wanted to see / hear any more of her for quite a while to come...
4) "Here's To Future Days" - Thompson Twins...there really weren't many at all for them after this quite patchy album. Some good tracks lurking in there, but overall tired and a little too rocky (a muddy cover of The Beatles' 'Revolution' anyone?)
5) "Jagged" - Gary Numan...see Exciter above. One of Numan's most disappointing studio albums, which drones on at the same pace / with the same atmosphere all the way through! Each stifling, endless intro is like Chinese water torture as you hope for a different beat or arrangement to come - but no. Disappointment around every corner.
