10 Worst Songs Of The 80s

New Wave/Punk music, culture, genres, memories. '80s revivalism and other relevant topics.

Postby newwavepop » Sat Mar 09, 2013 8:39 pm

clearly the 10 worst songs would be songs that didnt even remotely chart. so first it should state the 10 worst top 20 songs. that being said how do you decide that, im not going to put something on the list just because i personally dislike it. there are songs on there i like, and no matter how much a think dont worry be happy or whitney houston suck i find miami sound machine much worse than them.

Does "Lady in Red" suck? Yes, but it wouldn't come anywhere near my worst 10 of the 80s list. Some better candidates not already listed:

Ebony and Ivory
I've Never Been to Me
Hello
Sussudio

But really, "Don't Worry, Be Happy" takes the cake for me. Double demerit points for having Robin Williams mugging for the camera.

Bulls-eye, on Ebony and Ivory without question on my top ten list maybe even number one.

Don't Worry, Be Happy is right up there too.

Although I did kind of like Sussudio as a dance / club type song, but nothing beyond that.

The topic is about the top ten worst songs of the 80's. It would be hard to put this up at the top of an 80's list when it dates back to the 70's. Nor is the topic about remixes. [:)]

How about the insufferable "General Hos-pital" horrible song about the show?

Edie Brickells-What I am(garbage)
Dont worry be happy is unlistenable
That stupid Suzanne Vega song
there are more that are far worse than most on that list.

"Keepin the '80s alive!"

It would be interesting to see an expanded list though.

PS Welcome back TM!

Hi-ho Mr Chickens, how goes it?!

I notice Huey Lewis's "If this is it" didn't make the top 10. Maybe because the filmclip (still to this day) has an awesome bikini nipple-slip in it.

imho those 2 above are not that bad either..I actually enjoyed Breathe music and their vocals...... and Every Breath You Take I still enjoy hearing.

in more commercial music, Lionel Richie would probably make my list of the worst...imho All Night Long and Dancing on the Ceiling are rather bad..

"We Built this City" HAS to be #1

Genesis' "Illegal Alien" HAS to be on there, NOT Dire Straits!

"Wham Rap" Heck, the whole Wham Catalog

"Wild Boys" "Reflex" "Union of the Snake" Heck, the whole Duran2 catalog

"Safety Dance!"

"Puttin' on the Ritz"

"I Always Feel Somebody's Watching Me" WLIR had to get paid to make that "Screamer of the Week!"

"Let's Get Physical!"

"Maneater!"

Rick Astley, Corey Hart, Robbie Nevil, Richard Marx, Peter Cetera

Jack Wagner's "All I Need!"

Escape Club's "Wild Wild West"

"I Just Died In Your Arms"

"The Doggone Girl is Mine"/"Say Say Say"

Debbie Gibson & Tiffany

New Kids on the Friggin' Block

Roxette

Mr. Mister

Lionel Richie

MILLI VANILLI

Kenny G

Michael Fucking Bolton

WOW, we had to endure a lot of shit to get to the good music!

Ahhh Genesis - of course! - In addition to Illegal Alien, I'd nominate 'I can't Dance'. That song is fully fucked. Sideways.
