The Earth Has Vinyl Rips For Those Who Listen/Love

The Earth Has Vinyl Rips For Those Who Listen/Love

Today, I returned the first batch of Tabu reborn-reissues to the retailer. I am also very disappointed about the misleading promotion of this. I won't pay full price for releases that include vinyl rips, without any warning.

This is all VERY obvious on the Cherelle reissue (Fragile) where ALL of the bonus tracks are from (bad conditioned) vinyl! Engineers tried to hide this by reducing treble and certain drum computer sounds. But not only that: the audio has volume differences in it as well. Actually, I never heard such a bad "remaster" job before. I don't want bad sounding reissues in my collection, my ears are too sensitive.

I wrote various comments on the site about these and I will not (pre-)order anything again from this Tabu reissue campaign. Makes you wonder time and time again how these guys get away with it.

April was only the first batch of several months, (which is 4 CD's at a time). I wonder what will happen, because the shit already hit the fan on amazon and other sites as well (even the official Tabu-Facebook one).

Totally agree. For example, Saturday Love (Extended Version) - terrible! drum drop-outs all over the place (Shades of Visage's "The Anvil" Re-master on Cherry Red).

I used to have the Club Epic Vol.1 CD and that had a far superior master of Saturday Love on it, though expect to pay £20 for the privalage these days!

The problem is that many of these re-masters will be ripped to Mp3 players, iPods & Smart Phones and listened through tinny earphones and iPod docks with the volume wacked up so the listener will be none the wiser!

You might be lucky with the main album and 12" mixes, but their B-side instrumentals and remixes that where only availabe on vinyl will probably be sourced fom them im afraid.

You might have been better off buying (If you havn't already got it) the Original 1987 CD Release along with the Original 1988 CD release of Hearsay - All Mixed Up, which has all the main 12" mixes from the Hearsay album (with the exception of Hearsay '89).

Exactly! That's what I thought too.

Lucky that I kept ALL my Tabu CD's from the 80's and early 90's. Even the CD versions of All Mixed Up, My Gift To You, All True Man, Love Makes No Sense AND Alex's Twelve Inch Mixes (which HAS Hearsay '89 (Extended Remix)) from Epic Sony Music 1992. That one still sounds great.

But I go even further: I have a singles collection of Alex which is called This Thing Called Love (also from Epic Sony Music 1992). Everything from the master tapes. It even includes the singles of Innocent, If You Were Here Tonight, What's Missing, Never Knew Love Like This , The Lovers, Fake '88 (Single Mix) and Hearsay '89 (Single Mix).

Some of these single mixes were not included on Alex's Expanded 2 CD set. Instead you got a vinyl rip of What's Missing (Extended Remix) while I have a crisp version from my 1992 Twelve Inch CD.

Makes you wanna think about the Tabu reborn-team and their so-called 'indebth catalogue research' of which they are so fond of.
