what with the retroactive series gone 12" 80's and So 80's seem to be two of the only compilations that may release some of the 12" versions we are after. Thought it would be a good idea that we make suggestions and perhaps they may listen and look at some of our list/ suggestions

so to start I would suggest something like

Forgotten 12" 80's

my list would be as follows

Fiat lux blue emotion extended
This island earth take me to the fire extended
This island earth see that glow
secession touch part 3
secession michael extended
associates those first impressions
tears for fears pale shelter original 12" version
Kissing the pink last film extended
b - movie rememberance days some bizzare 12"
vision love dance 12" version
timezone world destruction ( has been out on CD before)
China crisis tradegy and mystery extended
ledernacken ich will de essen
marc almond ruby red special remix
wonderlust fallout club ( extended)
Pete wylie Sinful ( not tribal mix)

also added to this some great tracks but you can get on CD
Icicle works hollow horse extended
The The perfect
Cabaret voltaire sensoria
spk metal dance
sisters of mercy temple of love ( original 12" mix)
japan european son extended

Any thoughts from other people

Peter Godwin - Torch Songs 12"
Depeche - Strangelove (the US remixes)
Paul Haig - Heaven Sent 12"
TFF - Shout (UK mix)
SPK - Junk Funk or Breathless)
Comsat Angels - Day One (think I've got the correct track)
Silencers - Bulletproof Heart
China Crisis - any not on CD

P.S. the TFF - Pale Shelter was on a 2 cd version of the tears roll down comp hidden among mostly disappointing modern remixes.

Adventures - Send my Heart (extended remix) appeared on the expanded Theodore and Friends in 2009. One of my favourite tracks of all time that one :)

This was the 1983 extended mix produced by Chris Hughes and Ross Cullum. I'm afraid that the original 1982 version of 'Pale Shelter (You Don't Give Me Love)' produced by Mike Howlett is still unreleased on CD.

Speaking of unreleased versions of Gary Numan's classic Beggars Banquet phase. Gary Numan started to release 12" singles which differ to album versions at the time of "I, Assassin". And these are the three 12" single releases of that album. But I'm not quite sure which versions exist in detail and which of them are still unreleased on cd.

Music For Chameleons (Album Version) 6:06
Music For Chameleons (Extended Version) 6:54 > seems to be unreleased on cd??

White Boys And Heroes (Album Version) 6:23
White Boys And Heroes (UK 12" Extended Version) 6:27 (= same as album version?!)
White Boys And Heroes (US 12" Promo / Re mixed by Chris Nelson) 8:28 > seems to be unreleased on cd??

We Take Mystery To Bed (Album Version) 6:11
We Take Mystery To Bed (UK 12" Extended Version) 7:42 > unreleased on cd??
We Take Mystery To Bed (US 12" Promo / Re mixed by Chris Nelson) 7:42 (= same as UK 12" version?)

I know that a 7:38 version of We Take Mystery To Bed is released on this cd: Gary Numan – Document Series Presents. I guess it's one of or THE 12" version of this song.

It would be great if someone of you can clear this up.

I just went through my Gary Numan collection and found this 2-cd which I remember now having bought just for this one track:
Music For Chameleons (Extended Version) 6:54
http://www.discogs.com/Gary-Numan-Expos ... ase/683363

And this is the cd with the extended version of We Take Mystery To Bed:
http://www.discogs.com/Gary-Numan-Docum ... ster/69495

This leaves still two questions open:
Are there two 12" versions of We Take Mystery To Bed (one UK and one US mix)?
Is there a cd release of the (US) 12" promo version of White Boys And Heroes?

I've never heard of a 12" version of "Primitive Painters." The original is 6:00 (give or take a second or two depending on the compilation) and is in print on several CD's.

I own them, same version on all 3 releases:
We Take Mystery To Bed (UK 12" BEG77T)
We Take Mystery To Bed (US Promo 12" PR 468)
We Take Mystery To Bed (UK "Document Series Presents" CSAP CD 113)

As for White Boys And Heroes 8:20, no CD release yet to my knowledge.

God i know / used to know everything about Numan. I was putting my CD and music collection onto I tunes at one point and got as far as 100,140 songs but lost it even though backed up (don't ask, sore point and i hate I tunes). So i could've checked there for you guys. I do also have the excellent Numan book which i highly recommend 'Electronic pioneer' repleat with one of the greatest discographies ever! Yes We take mystery... slipped through in 12" form and Exposure (like many Numan CD's) contained a couple or so rarities. One of my favourite tracks was the remix by Renegade Soundwave of Are 'friends' electric' from 1988 (i think). There was two actually as one instrumental and it or even they finally appeared on CD about a decade ago. I also like a few of the remixes of Cars of which there were many. The Talla Xx or whatever it was called, Dave Clarke and Witchman's Freebase assault were a few from the late nineties. Also the E reg Extended model and Motorway mix from 1987 were rather excellent. Zues B Held (the spelling is wrong i know on his first name) i think was the remixer on those 1987 versions. There was a nice 1994 mix or two as well on the 1994 CD single with 7 mixes on. I would also advise people to check out his anniversary re-records of which there were about 5 in the end spread across various formats around the period of 1998 (as they were probably titled 20th anniversary versions). There's so many issues of Numan albums it's hard to keep track or remember in the end. There are a few rarities also on I tunes including My dying machine Instrumental remix as a 2 track single which i have purchased!

Good point, that one shouldn't have been on the list. :) The album version I have is 5:58 and the 12" lists it at 6:02, so they're probably the same maybe with a longer fade out. :)
