New Visage album on the way

Postby ippudo » Sat May 25, 2013 4:11 am

All tracks are up on YouTube now. I didn't expect much at all and was pleasantly surprised as it's a definite improvement on "Beat Boy" and Strange Cruise. Some tracks are perhaps a little under-produced and/or too lightweight in that they lack the dark and sinister edge that made "The Anvil" album such a winner. "Shameless Fashion" comes closest to the old Visage sound, I just wish they'd used an edit of the brilliant "Extended Remix" (thankfully also included) for the single mix as it has some additional sax, while the bass and (real) drums are more prominent. I can also appreciate the bass playing and the heavy use of e-bow guitars. All in all a welcome return.

Best Steve Strange release since The Anvil. Also love the guitar playing of Robin Simon. My favourites so far:
Lost In Static, On We Go, Shameless Fashion, I Am Watching and She's Electric.

Great times for lovers of the golden age of electro/synthesizer pop because of this incredible run of sometimes great but at least good reunion/comeback albums from (early-)80s bands (Visage, John Foxx and the Maths, Duran Duran, OMD, Ultravox, Human League). And even those bands who don't release new albums, they play great concerts as Simple Minds (5x5) and Heaven 17 (Penthouse & Pavement concert).

I'm gonna party like it's 1982 again.....

Btw: I have ordered the "Hearts And Knifes" package through the official Visage website for 20 pounds. This package includes:

> A Steve Strange Signed CD copy of the "Hearts And Knives" album
> Limited edition "Shameless Fashion" 4 Track Printed Promo CD
> Limited edition "Frequency 7" 3 Track Printed Promo CD
> Visage Stickers

No regrets

Curious, what is a printed promo cd? Is that a replicated cd or a cd-r?

Also, Visage on FB is already asking what song they should press as their 3rd single from the album. I only thought they have released one, "Shameless Fashion". What's the second single?

There are pictures of both promo cds at discogs.com.
Good question about the mysterious second single.

The official/commercial CD-maxi single is sold out everywhere it seems. I was lucky to order the last copy today from Amazon. I don't think there will be a second edition.

About the second single, perhaps Steve is thinking of the recent Frequence 7 CD single. In any case it's not correct. /JW

The mysterious second single will be "Dreamer I Know". Apparently there's already a video from which a snippet was shown last week on Lorraine Kelly's breakfast show, where Steve Strange did a short interview. I haven't seen it, so I can't comment, but here's the video in full: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koXgh1d8Rd4
