A series of Cabaret Voltaire releases coming out

A series of Cabaret Voltaire releases coming out

http://mute.com/cabaret-voltaire/red-me ... ut-22-july

Mute Records are delighted to announce a series of Cabaret Voltaire releases, starting with the vinyl issue of the band's iconic 1981 album "Red Mecca" – out on 22 July 2013.
The album will be remastered and made available on vinyl for the first time since 1990.
The series of Cabaret Voltaire releases will continue with a box-set release on vinyl and CD in the autumn. "#8385 (Collected Works 1983 – 1985)" will collate four of the Cabs' classic mid-period releases, remastered – "The Crackdown" (1983), "Micro-Phonies" (1984), "Drinking Gasoline" (1985) and "The Covenant, The Sword And The Arm Of The Lord" (1985) – alongside bonus CDs and DVDs.
In early 2014 "#7885 (Electro Punk To Techno Pop 1978 – 1985)" will compile for the first time, both periods of Cabaret Voltaire together on one release.

So excited 'bout that! [:)]

"Deluxe 6 CD, 2DVD & 4 Vinyl box set
Includes remastered versions of The Crackdown, Micro-Phonies, Drinking Gasoline, The Covenant, The Sword And The Arm Of The Lord.
B-sides, remixes, 2 live concerts, Gasoline In Your Eye and unreleased material.
Packaged in a deluxe box with 12" booklet and certificate of authenticity.
Limited quantity only, this box set will not be re-pressed."

I hope the contents will be available separately.
I can't waste money purchasing a box set that contains a lot of stuff I already own just for a few gems.
But this is great for everyone that missed getting these on the first go round.
Love the comment, "...the Cabs' classic mid-period releases...". Easily translated as "The good stuff in-between the unlistenable dross".

I'm only getting it for the certificate of authenticity.

Also there is plenty of outstanding "late early" and "early late" CV material.

About time, The video material alone will be worth it. The Covenant, The Sword and The Arm of the Lord, one of my all time favorites.

It's about time. So long as Richard H. Kirk doesn't remix everything, this should be awesome.

Maybe Mute will finally get around to that Clock DVA reissue series (although I strongly doubt the delay is Mute's fault.)

Yep! Seeing "Gasoline In Your Eye" finally getting official DVD release will be just enough for me to buy the whole set no matter of cost.

I hope he doesn't newely remix everything as well. But according to box-sets titles and given descriptions I assume this won't be case. But could be wrong, of course.
I just deeply hope the reissue process continutes with the Parlophone/EMI releases - "Code" (1987) and "Groovy, Laidback And Nasty" (1990) albums et al. Would love to have an additional DVD with their accompanying videos so bad.

Clock DVA deserved the same reissue series too.

Here's some more info on the upcoming (re)releases:

http://www.slicingupeyeballs.com/2013/0 ... e-box-set/
Originally posted by SlicingUpEyeballs
<br>The upcoming releases include:

First up, from Mute, is the first release of "Red Mecca" on vinyl since 1990. Due July 22, the limited-edition, 180-gram audiophile pressing is remastered by engineer Stefan Betke and includes the album on CD, too.

In late August or early September, Richard H. Kirk is planning to release his 3CD box set featuring two concerts from 1982 recorded at The Warehouse in Liverpool and The Lyceum in Sheffield, as well as a 1985 concert recorded in Toronto.

In November, Mute will release the box set "#8385 (Collected Works 1983–1985)", which includes remastered editions of "The Crackdown" (1983), "Micro-Phonies" (1984), "Drinking Gasoline" (1985) and "The Covenant, The Sword And The Arm Of The Lord" (1985), plus B-sides, remixes, 2 live concerts, the "Gasoline In Your Eye" video compilation and previously unreleased material, all spread across six CDs, two DVDs and four vinyl records.

And in early 2014, Mute will release "#7885 (Electro Punk To Techno Pop 1978–1985)", which 'will compile for the first time both periods of Cabaret Voltaire together on one release,' according to Mute. No tracklist has yet been revealed.
$200!!!
Sorry, at this price I'm ripping it apart.
The material on 5 out of 6 CDs has already been issued on CD & except for "TC,TS&TAOTL" they're still available at rather low prices.
"Earthshaker" could be interesting but I lived without it for the last 27 years and didn't care so it's hardly a selling point. Judging by the track titles, "instrumental dub", "... mix", I doubt it's earth shattering anyway.
A live DVD...wouldn't even watch it one time in it's entirety...moving on.
So for me the "Gasoline In Your Eye" DVD is really the only true selling point. Hopefully, in time, it will be sold separately.

Alright, Amazon UK lists it 131.99 pounds which has to be a mistake because it's 79.99 pounds from the CV shop.
http://shop.cabaret-voltaire.net/home/c ... x-set.html

$125 is more reasonable though not worth it for what I lack from CV.

Maybe interested but not at the Amazon price!!! as I don't have the albums on CD and they are some of my favorite records I have and would love to have 'Gasoline...' on DVD as have no way to play the VHS now.
There are a few tracks on 'Conform To Deform '82/'90.: Archive', 2001, from this era that haven't been included, wonder why?

I agree for the price there is not much here. Earthshaker was sort of a annoying throwaway instrumental on Micro-phonies..kinda of blah there.
They failed to include the Blue Heat (12" remix) and the B-side to Just Fascination 7" "Empty Walls" which is a decent track. I had expected more from this release, again built up for a big let-down.

Whilst I find that box-set great, not fantastic(!), as it don't include several tracks that will make it complete Virgin Records-wise like the aforementioned "Empty Walls", I too think the two DVDs are the only stuff worth to purchase it but not at that steep as hell price, of course. I expected it to cost about 50 British pounds which would be just acceptable.
Almost all the singles' B-sides and 12" versions from that era can be found on CD already as well - "The Original Sound Of Sheffield '83/'87" compilation and "Conform To Deform '82/'90: Archive" box-set from 2001, more precisely.
Hopefully, the discs will be sold separately one day indeed.
I have all the Cabs' albums on CD already, BTW.

Unless the remastering is astounding, I'm not sure I'm going to get this. 'Empty Walls' is a major omission; while the Earthshaker stuff might be ok, it doesn't seem essential. The Drain Train also seems like an odd omission, as does the great 'Blue Heaven' 12", and I think there are a couple of mixes from Conform To Deform that aren't here (at least, a remix of 'The Web'). The only unreleased tracks look like instrumental tracks, which suggests Kirk had the heavier hand in this (there's got to be some unreleased vocal studio tracks, right? There are a few CV songs that have appeared on live recordings but not studio albums.) I love CV and might buy this anyway, but it's a bit disappointing.
